Tom Brady Enjoying Time with Kids After NFL Retirement
By Movieguide® Contributor
Former NFL quarterback and legend Tom Brady joined SiriusXM’s “Let’s Go! With Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald, and Jim Gray” podcast to discuss life after retirement and his time with his kids.
Brady was selected by the New England Patriots in the sixth round (199th overall) of the 2000 NFL Draft. He spent the majority of his career with the New England Patriots, where he became one of the most successful quarterbacks in NFL history.
Brady led the Patriots to numerous AFC East division titles. He won six Super Bowl championships with the Patriots (Super Bowl XXXVI, XXXVIII, XXXIX, XLIX, LI and LIII). He was named the Super Bowl MVP multiple times, was selected to the Pro Bowl numerous times and was a First-Team All-Pro selection.
In March 2020, Tom Brady signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In his first season with the Buccaneers (2020), he led the team to victory in Super Bowl LV, earning his seventh Super Bowl championship.
“I’m always gonna love throwing that ball,” Brady said on the podcast, sharing that he had been playing the sport for over thirty years, “high school, college, and then obviously 20 years in New England.”
Brady then talked about his kids, Benjamin and Vivian, and their new endeavors with football and soccer.
“My son is gonna play football this year, Benny, so I’ve been throwing the ball to him in the backyard,” Brady expressed. “And he wants to be a tight end like Gronk, and he’s gonna be a little beast. He’s an amazing kid and he’s got a lot of talents. He’s a really talented musician and artist. And then he told me this year, ‘Dad, I’m playing football.’ And I was like, ‘What do you wanna play?’ And he was like, ‘Tight end. I wanna be like Gronk!’ So, I actually texted Gronk and I’m like, ‘Yo, my boy wants to be like you!’ And he loved it.”
“My daughter’s got me kicking the soccer ball,” he stated. “And [I’m] really enjoying this new experience. And there’s so much to life that is here to live. And I was very blessed to play for as long as I did, and I loved it.”
Since Brady has retired from professional football, he’s enjoyed spending more time with his family.
After a recent trip to Africa, Brady wrote, “What an incredible trip to the most amazing continent…Africa. It was another special reminder that life is TRULY about relationships and memories…This past week of my birthday I have had much time to reflect and be grateful for all the incredible blessings.”
“I couldn’t imagine growing up as a boy in San Mateo that my life would become what it has,” he expressed. “I’ve experienced quite a bit in the first 45 years I have lived, and what I have loved most is the people who I have shared the most life changing events with….my children, my family, my loved ones and friends and all of you have added so much to this incredible/adventurous life.”
Brady continued, “To wake up to sunrises and untouched parts of our beautiful planet, to witness these animals in all their glory, to see how different people can live with true joy and happiness continues to bring me great lessons in learning.”
Catch Brady with the Fox Sports Broadcasting team beginning in 2024, where he will now have the opportunity to call the game from the other side.
Movieguide® previously reported on Brady:
Although Brady is arguably the best quarterback to play in the history of the NFL, he said that his greatest achievement is his family.
“Our family is my greatest achievement. I always came off the field and home to the most loving and supportive wife who has done everything for our family to allow me to focus on my career. Her selflessness allowed me to reach new heights professionally, and I am beyond words what you mean to me and our family,” he said.
