WHEN CALLS THE HEART Star: Show ‘Moving to a Really Beautiful Place’

By Movieguide® Contributor

WHEN CALLS THE HEART star Kevin McGarry says he thinks Nathan and Elizabeth are “endgame.”

“I have always liked Nathan and Elizabeth as a couple,” McGarry, who plays Nathan, told Entertainment Tonight. “I think Nathan was created for Elizabeth.”

The actor continued, “I really feel like [Nathan] not finding a place, him not finding a partner, was deliberate. He was meant to kind of just wonder, while she was kind of moving forward with Lucas [Elizabeth’s Season 10 love interest]. I think it was always meant to be this and that they were meant to be endgame. And I really like how it’s been done.”

McGarry also acknowledged that some fans will be disappointed that Elizabeth is entering into a relationship with Nathan.

“My message is that I am sorry if anybody is hurt from the way that the story is being told. That’s not anybody’s intention,” he emphasized. “The long-term [goal] is always to tell a great story. Tell a long story. And, you know, this was the decision—and I really hope that you stay with us. Every character is inherently good on the show and just because somebody is not with somebody else, it doesn’t mean that they’re not an important character on the show.”

The actor said Lucas would remain “a very big part of Hope Valley,” adding, “I don’t think we’d have to show without [him].”

“[There are] multiple heartbeats on this show, you know?” McGarry continued. “So, I’m sorry if anybody is hurt, but I really think the show is moving to a really beautiful place and I hope you stick around and watch it.”

Erin Krakow, who plays Elizabeth, has also spoken about the upcoming season of WHEN CALLS THE HEART.

“Time has flown by since the end of season 10 and I cannot put into words how thrilled I am for the premiere of Season 11 of WHEN CALLS THE HEART,” she said. “It’s such a warm feeling to know that we have the loyalty, love, and longevity to make it this far and that is a true testament to our viewers.”

Krakow continued, “I’m beyond proud and grateful to our hardworking crew, writers, producers, cast, and Hallmark Channel for their vision and support.  I cannot wait for viewers to tune in to this season and to continue on this journey with all of us! Season 11 delivers more heart than ever before!”

Lisa Hamilton Daly, Hallmark’s Executive Vice President of Programming, also spoke about the success of WHEN CALLS THE HEART.

“If there’s anything we can take away from the success of WHEN CALLS THE HEART, it’s that these stories, these characters, and essentially their lives, is that they resonate and they matter deeply to so many of our viewers,” Daly said. “Eleven seasons is a celebration of the kind of heartwarming content that we strive to bring to the fans every year.”
