While performing his song “Hard Fought Hallelujah” on GOOD MORNING AMERICA, Brandon Lake shared the one thing he has in common with longtime MAURY host Maury Povich that every Christian should have in common.

“Just trying to chase one song after the other and point people to a hope that’s higher and point them to Jesus,” Lake told GOOD MORNING AMERICA the same morning that the former tabloid TV personality was also a guest on the show. “And me and Maury even got something in common, we both tell people who the Father is. I’m here to tell them who the heavenly Father is…I had to connect it somehow. I mean, who would think me and Maury would be on the same show together? I think it’s awesome.”

During his time on-air, Povich became known for his phrase “You are (are not) the father!” when revealing paternity test results, per Britannica.

Lake has long shared his music with the one goal of helping his listeners grow closer to Christ. While most of the time these listeners are seeking out his music, in 2024, he recalled a time when a group of security guards who were paid to be at a venue gave their lives to Christ at the end of a concert.

“What had happened was when we gave this invitation to raise your hand if you want to say yes to Jesus, apparently a line of security guards all raised their hand,” Lake recalled. “Many believers there that night ran forward and celebrated with the security guards. It was just really cool. Because that’s why we do this. It’s not to entertain. It’s to see people have an encounter with God.”

Meanwhile, Lake makes sure the Lord is at the center of his own life every day so that he can write songs that point toward the glory and power of the Lord.

“Every day, working that muscle, looking for ideas, looking for the Lord in everything…creating a storehouse of ideas and really just feeding constantly on inspiration, feeding constantly on the word of God so that it becomes so deep,” he previously explained.

“I look back and go, ‘I have no idea how I did that,’ and it’s because of two things,” Lake continued. “One, it’s not me, it’s the Lord. It’s the spirit of God. But then two, it’s because it came from a deep-rooted well…You teach yourself to see inspiration as potential seeds of things that can minister to people.”

Lake’s love for God is apparent in every song that he writes, and this relationship continues to deliver powerful anthems for Christians to sing around the world. Praise the Lord for Lake’s talent and the way he uses to bring the Kingdom closer to earth every day.
