Why HGTV Star ‘Never Gets Tired’ of Celebrating Christmas

HOME TOWN star Ben Napier is sharing his lifelong love of Christmas and its blessings.
“Christmas is part of who I am. I was raised on it,” he wrote in an essay for Guideposts.
Napier shared his childhood traditions, from going to see neighborhood Christmas light displays to caroling to even welcoming a baby brother.
“He was the most awesome gift,” he wrote. “Could Christmas get any better?”
As Napier got older, his love of the holiday was still going strong.
“Somehow I got up the nerve to admit my Christmas ‘thing’ to the smart, beautiful design student I started dating in December 2004,” he shared, referring to his wife Erin. “One of our first dates was to Mason Park in Laurel, Mississippi, to see the light display.”
Erin reflected on their first date in a recent anniversary post.
“December 8, 2004. As of yesterday I’ve been with @scotsman.co most of my life. That’s a crazy milestone,” she wrote.

“If I can pass on to [them] the joy Christmas brings me, my work will be done. Remember how I told you that Erin and I had our first date in December?” he wrote.
In a November Instagram post, Erin shared that their daughters are just as in love with Christmas as their parents are.
“The girls wanted to start early and i couldn’t stop them,” she joked under a photo of their home’s Christmas decorations.
Napier finished his Guideposts essay reflecting on the blessings of the holiday season.
“Someone once asked me, ‘By the time actual Christmas rolls around, aren’t you tired of the carols, the movies, the good cheer?’” he wrote. “No, ma’am, not one bit. Same way I never get tired of spending time with my family or of going to church or of counting every surprise as a Christmas blessing.”
