Former New York Yankees pitcher Andy Pettitte makes faith his life’s priority over any worldly success.

“It’s not about all the trophies and all the money and all the fame. It’s more about, you know, people’s souls,” Pettitte declared on the latest episode of AINSLEY’S BIBLE STUDY on Fox Nation.

Throughout his life, he has turned to Mark 8:36: “What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world but loses his soul?”

I just felt like that God gave me just a great ability of being like ‘I don’t care if you like me or not like me. I’m gonna do what I feel like is the right thing to do and what I feel like as a Christian man I’m being called to do,'” he explained

Throughout his baseball career, his faith and his wife formed his foundation amid the distractions of the pro sports world.

“Yeah, I would just say that for me, fortunately enough, I got married at a really young age, right. And so I had my wife with me in there to support me all through the minor leagues and kind of walked through my whole career with me,” Pettitte said on Fox and Friends. “So that made it really, really easy. And at a young age, I found Christ, you know. At 11 years old, I accepted Jesus. I just felt like I had a wonderful foundation and continued to grow every year.”

“And so I just felt like I had a wonderful foundation, you know, with my faith to kind of carry me through all the trials and tribulations and all the great times also that a baseball career can bring,” the former pitcher emphasized.

While in the MLB, Andy Pettitte would often lead Bible studies for his teammates. He described that time as “tough” because many of them didn’t seem interested.

“You have to get to the point, obviously, where you don’t care what anyone thinks of you. You’re going to live your life, you know what you believe and the foundations that you kind of want to live and the principles you want to live your life on. Everyone’s not going to always agree with you, but definitely as a younger player, it was tough,” Pettitte said.

“It was tough when you had to walk around the baseball locker room and say, ‘Hey, we got chapel in five minutes,’ and a lot of guys didn’t want to hear that, but again, God’s just always been very faithful, and I just had a lot of confidence in what he was going to do and how he was going to help me,” he added.

Pettitte concluded: “It’s been wonderful during the course of my career to see people, see other teammates accept Jesus, and God is just good. That’s all I can say.”

No matter how hard things got for Pettitte in the league or in life, he always relied on his faith in God and his wife to help him.
