THE ABANDONED

What You Need To Know:

THE ABANDONED is another cinematic atrocity spewed up from the depths of the pit of hell. Everyone involved with this project needs salvation. It is written, filmed, acted, and edited to encourage the worst nightmares possible in those foolish enough to pay for a ticket. This travesty starts with a Russian mother driving a truck up to someone’s house in 1966 and promptly dying of stab wounds. She leaves behind very young twins. Forty years later, the “abandoned” twins are both drawn back to the haunted house where their mother was stabbed. There, after more than an hour of audience torture, they die and join the unhappy family of bloody gruesome ghosts haunting the place.

Everything about this movie is despicable. The color is putrid. The camera flops around like a kite in the wind. The actors just look sweaty, dirty and frightened for two hours. The script is inexcusable. To give this a single quality star would be too much. The nasty language, bloody violence, full female nudity, occult content, and just constant, scary terror are more than enough to give this low-budget frightfest an abhorrent rating from MOVIEGUIDE(r).

More Detail:

THE ABANDONED is another cinematic atrocity spewed up from the depths of the pit of hell. Everyone involved with this project needs salvation. It is written, filmed, acted, and edited to encourage the worst nightmares possible in those foolish enough to pay for a ticket. Sadly, in 2007 it seems we get a new effort to create nightmares every weekend.

The “abandoned” twins are both drawn back to the haunted house where their mother was stabbed 40 years earlier. There, after more than an hour of audience torture, they meet their death and join the unhappy family of bloody gruesome ghosts.

The only thing significant about this move is that it is part of a trend. The motion picture industry is increasingly coming under the light of God’s truth. On the one hand some in the industry are rejoicing in the light and working to make better movies. Conversely, some filmmakers hate the light and rebel by making vile movies like THE ABANDONED. Some filmmakers are pouring out some of the worst garbage in film history, but we can hope we are about to turn a corner. If the light gets bright enough, the lowlife producers will have to leave or get saved and forgiven. We look for the day when no bank or studio will finance a movie like THE ABANDONED and no distributor will be willing to offer it to theaters. It would be GREAT if theaters had the courage to say, “We won’t show it.”
