More Detail:

Episode 10 of season 17 of HEARTLAND follows the family as they face multiple life-changing events. Shane and Chloe reconsider their wedding after a fight during setup, while Shane also reveals he’s not so sure about moving to London. Meanwhile, Jack, Tim, and Lou find out that the future of their company is on rocky ground when Garland Meats drops them. While the family comes together to build each other up, it will take hard work and humbleness to go through this season successfully.

Shane and Chloe are putting the final touches on their wedding gazebo when an overloaded power circuit catches fire while no one is nearby. The structure burns to the ground, spooking Powder, the horse Chloe planned on riding down the aisle. After putting out the fire, Shane and Chloe fight because Shane steps away to take a work call when the fire breaks out. Meanwhile, Shane blames Chloe for the fire because of all the bells and whistles she wanted attached to the gazebo. At the end of the fight, Shane reveals that he was just offered a promotion at his job, and he’s rethinking their move to London, which Chloe gets extremely upset about, causing them to say they should call off the wedding.

Nathan and Amy track down Powder, who ran away after the fire. While they’re looking for him, Nathan apologizes for a hurtful comment he previously made to Amy: that all relationships end in hurt, including hers, which ended when her husband died. She’s not entirely willing to accept his apology. However, their relationship begins to mend further as they must work together to rehabilitate Powder and prepare him for the wedding.

At the same time, Jack, Tim, and Chloe head off to Calgary to meet with the CEO of Garland Meats to understand why they are no longer a provider at the company after being in a partnership with them for years. When they arrive, they find that the company fired the CEO, and the new CEO is looking to make changes at the company, leading to them being dropped.

When Jack, Tim, and Chloe return to the ranch, they discover the fire and the subsequent fight between Shane and Chloe. Tim sets out to find his son and talk to him about what happened. He finds Shane throwing rocks on the dock and reminds him that circumstances change constantly, and people also very often change their minds, but they shouldn’t let those changes change their relationships. Shane realizes he’s right and decides to find Chloe.

They come together, and Shane apologizes for the fire and changing his mind about London. But before he can finish, Chloe apologizes, saying she’s becoming a bridezilla and is excited about his promotion at work. Even better, she recently turned down a job offer from a place in Philadelphia and could call them back and reclaim the position. Of course, they both accept the other’s apology, and Shane proposes again, so the wedding is back on.

That night, the family hosted a birthday party for Lisa, where they discussed their business relationship with Garland Meats, and they found the resolve not to give up. Later, Jack, Tim and Lou return to Garland Meats to explain why they should continue to be a provider for the company. They meet before the new CEO and the board, but the new CEO kicks them out before they can pitch. As they are leaving, however, Lou gets fed up and tells the executives that Heartland doesn’t need Garland Meats; actually, Garland Meats needs Heartland because they provide the highest quality meat available, and the customers will notice a drop in quality if they begin using a different provider.

Back at the ranch, Nathan and Amy can get Powder ready for the wedding, and Shane and Chloe pick out a new part of the property for their ceremony. The morning of their wedding is the following day, and Tim visits his son and finds him a nervous wreck. Even though Shane and Chloe decided not to have bridesmaids or groomsmen, Shane asked his dad if he would be his best man and support him. His father is honored, and Shane tells Shane just how proud he is of him.

They then go to the wedding, and Shane is super nervous but excited when he sees his beautiful bride arrive. Jack officiates the wedding, and everything goes as planned, meaning Shane and Chloe are married. The episode ends with Amy and Nathan in a strong spot in their relationship as they go cloud-gazing with Amy’s daughter.

The episode is extremely heartfelt and touching. While plotlines are left unresolved, it’s delightful to see Shane and Chloe married and the strength of Shane’s relationship with his father. The drama, however, continues as Heartland’s future with Garland Meats is still up in the air, as is Amy’s relationship with Nathan.

Episode 10 of season 17 of HEARTLAND is extremely biblically rooted, strongly emphasizing marriage’s sanctity and the weight it means to a relationship. Shane and Chloe are encouraged on their journey as they enter their wedding. Furthermore, the importance of family is revealed as the characters find strength through their family and realize they have the support they need to overcome hard things. Additionally, little to no questionable elements make this episode acceptable for older children and up.
