What You Need To Know:

In 3 NINJAS: HIGH NOON AT MEGA MOUNTAIN, a group of thieves led by Loni Anderson and Jim Varney (of Ernest fame) have taken control of an amusement park named Mega Mountain. They want to extort $10 million from the owner. Regrettably, for the crooks, the three sons of the local FBI director are stranded in the park. That would ordinarily be no problem, but these boys have been trained in the martial arts by their grandfather. With the help of their young female neighbor and a TV star named Dave Dragon played by Hulk Hogan, the three ninjas foil the evil plot and help Dave Dragon show everyone that he is not just a make-believe hero.

HIGH NOON AT MEGA MOUNTAIN is a funny, entertaining action movie for children, young teenagers and parents looking for some relatively clean fun for their families. Despite a few awkward, corny moments, director Sean McNamara evokes shades of martial arts star Jackie Chan's humorous stuntwork in HIGH NOON AT MEGA MOUNTAIN. The movie has lots of exciting fight scenes, but it doesn't show anyone getting seriously hurt or killed. It also stresses traditional values such as heroism, respect, courage, trust, honor, and strong family relationships.

Content:

(BB, VV, M) Moral worldview teaching traditional values; no foul language; lots of action violence, mostly martial arts punching, kicking & leaping against bad guys threatening the lives of amusement park crowds, some shooting of guns including rapid-fire weapons, though no one gets shot, one torpedo explosion with people jumping to safety, & a few groin kicks & similar accidents; no nudity or depicted sexuality but one short scene of woman in bikini massaging man in swim trunks & Loni Anderson wears sexy leather outfit & makes reference about forcing Hulk Hogan to be her "boy toy;" and, one child disobeys parent about watching his little brother so he can be with his peers & bad guys threaten people's lives for money.

More Detail:

The new PG-rated sequel to the 3 NINJAS series, HIGH NOON AT MEGA MOUNTAIN, is a funny, entertaining action movie for children, young teenagers and parents looking for some family fun. Best news of all, it is a fairly clean martial-arts movie that, instead of preaching false, New Age religious views as many other martial-arts movies for children do, overtly stresses traditional values such as heroism, respect, courage, trust, honor, and strong family relationships.

The story of HIGH NOON AT MEGA MOUNTAIN involves three young brothers, Tum Tum, Rocky and Colt, who plan to spend a day at Mega Mountain, the local amusement park, with their new friend Amanda, who just moved into the neighborhood with her parents. Amanda is a pretty computer “nerd” who works on movie gadgets with her filmmaking father. The boys’ father is head of the local FBI office. The boys have spent several summers with their grandfather, who has been teaching them how to move and fight like Ninjas, a type of Asian martial arts expert.

Regrettably for Amanda and the boys, a group of thieves led by Loni Anderson and Jim Varney (of the Ernest fame) have taken control of Mega Mountain. They ask the owner for $10 million, or else they’ll start endangering the lives of the park’s patrons. Regrettably for the crooks, however, Amanda and the three boys see the bad guys knock out Hulk Hogan, who plays Dave Dragon, star of a canceled, action-oriented children’s program on TV who’s making his final appearance at the park. Using Amanda’s computer skills and some gadgets she’s brought along in her backpack, the young ninjas foil the evil plot and help Dave Dragon show everyone that he is not just a make-believe hero.

Director Sean McNamara, who also co-wrote the screenplay for HIGH NOON AT MEGA MOUNTAIN, keeps the story moving, despite a few awkward, corny moments. The best parts of the movie are when Colt, Rocky and Tum Tum humorously outsmart the bad guys with their clever martial arts moves. They may remind viewers of the funny way martial arts star Jackie Chan uses props to escape the foes in his movies.

Although Loni Anderson wears a sexy leather outfit and makes a reference about turning Hulk Hogan into her “boy toy,” there is little else in this film that might be objectionable for a young audience. HIGH NOON AT MEGA MOUNTAIN has lots of exciting fight scenes, but it doesn’t show anyone getting seriously hurt or killed. In addition, the Dave Dragon character stresses “Respect, Courage, Trust, Honor, and Teamwork” in his TV program. During the first part of HIGH NOON AT MEGA MOUNTAIN, Tum Tum’s older brothers think they have outgrown Dave’s program, but they find out later that they have not outgrown the values that Dave’s show preaches. As Colt tells Tum Tum at one point, “I forgot how cool Dave Dragon really is.” Let’s pray that Hollywood filmmakers, including major action stars like Harrison Ford and Bruce Willis, will start remembering how cool this kind of family-friendly action film can be.
