RESIDENT EVIL

"Hive of Destruction"

Watch:

What You Need To Know:

RESIDENT EVIL is a movie based on the extremely violent video game by Capcom. In the movie, Milla Jovovich of THE FIFTH ELEMENT plays Alice, a special agent assigned to guard a vast underground genetic research facility run by the Umbrella Corporation. Umbrella is a Microsoft of the future which makes most of its money through military and weapons technology. Something goes wrong, however, and the supercomputer at the facility kills all the people inside and gasses Alice with an amnesia drug. A small commando force suddenly appears. Alice must regain her memory to help them fight the monster, zombies and supercomputer running amok in the underground complex.

RESIDENT EVIL is a very violent, ultimately depressing science fiction movie. Although the movie starts off ingeniously, it goes downhill from there, especially when the flesh eating zombies start attacking and the destruction mounts. What’s worse is that one major character is killed off in a gruesome fashion, only to appear alive and well a couple scenes later. The filmmakers don’t improve things much by ending the movie in a downbeat fashion, with Alice the only one left to slaughter more zombies in the apparent upcoming sequel

The filmmakers should have at least given their audience something to cheer about in the end. Otherwise, what’s the point of even making such a movie like this?
