What You Need To Know:
SOUL SURVIVORS keeps the viewer guessing about the mystery behind Cassie’s visions and the people chasing her. Without giving away the twist at the end, the movie provides a Christian answer to what is troubling Cassie. The ending was quite moving, in fact, because of this development. The rest of the movie is uneven, however. The threats to Cassie are a little bit too ambiguous, for instance. SOUL SURVIVORS also contains some foul language, violence, scary moments, underage drinking, and sexual situations. Therefore, it warrants extreme caution.

More Detail:
SOUL SURVIVORS is an experiment in terror cinema with a unique twist. Christian viewers will be pleasantly surprised by how the story in this movie develops, though there are other aspects to SOUL SURVIVORS that are not so pleasing.
The story opens with a young woman, Cassie, going off to college a thousand miles away from her boyfriend, Sean. She and Sean are still friends with her ex-boyfriend, Matt, however, who’s now going out with their Goth friend Annabel. On a trip to a nasty, somewhat demonic rave party in an abandoned church, Matt comes between Cassie and Sean. Emotionally upset, Cassie is unable to avoid crashing into a stalled car, resulting in a terrible traffic accident. Sean apparently doesn’t survive.
At college several weeks later, Cassie tries to cope with her loss. She begins to have odd visions and losses of memory, including flashbacks to the party and the hospital after her accident. Cassie confides in a compassionate priest. Meanwhile, a masked man and a creepy accomplice seem to be after her. Cassie begins to question her sanity, as well as the intentions of Matt and Annabel, who are also acting peculiarly.
SOUL SURVIVORS keeps the viewer guessing about the mystery behind Cassie’s visions and the people chasing her. Without giving away the twist at the end, the movie provides a Christian answer to what’s happening to Cassie and her friends. The ending was quite moving, in fact, because of this development.
Even so, however, SOUL SURVIVORS fails to put enough pizzazz in the rest of its story, although Melissa Sagemiller does a good job playing the distraught Cassie. Thus, the threats to Cassie are a little bit too ambiguous. SOUL SURVIVORS also contains some foul language, violence, frightening moments, underage drinking, and sexual situations. It warrants extreme caution, therefore.
