RUTH & BOAZ puts an interesting, compelling twist on the biblical story, with excellent performances from the lead cast. The movie has a strong, uplifting Christian, moral worldview. Many scenes feature prayer and discussions of faith. Also, someone sings a Christian hymn. More Detail:

Tyler Perry’s RUTH & BOAZ is a modern-day retelling on Netflix of the biblical story. In this version, Ruth, an aspiring singer, is on the run from trouble, but ends up meeting Boaz, who offers her stability and love. When the past comes calling, will they stand firm, or will Ruth keep running?

Ruth and her friend and bandmate, Breana, are on the cusp of making it big. Their hip-hop duo act is about to be signed to an Atlanta label, but Ruth feels conflicted. She doesn’t love the music they’re making and feels disconnected from what was once her passion.

She decides to quit music, but her manager, Syrus, threatens her. Ruth doesn’t believe him. However, after she loses two of the important people in her life in what appeared to be an accident, Syrus tells her he was behind it. Also, he threatens he’ll do the same thing to Naomi, the mother of Ruth’s boyfriend.

To protect Naomi, Ruth follows her to Tennessee, where she ends up working at a local vineyard. There, she meets Boaz, the owner of the vineyard and winery. He’s immediately drawn to her, but Ruth, still conscious of Syrus’ threats, refuses to get too close.

As the weeks pass and Ruth grows more comfortable with her new life, she lets down her guard, allowing Boaz into her life. However, when Syrus finds out where Ruth’s been hiding out, she’s drawn back into the danger she thought she left behind.

Will Ruth run away again, or will she stay and fight for the life and love she’s found?
