TAILS OF CHRISTMAS is a sweet Christmas romance on Great American Family about an injured veteran who overcomes a leg injury and starts volunteering at an animal shelter run and owned by a young woman, which brings a new passion for life to him and helps him rethink his complicated relationship with his parents and his faith. TAILS OF CHRISTMAS builds to an inspiring ending that stresses family, faith and forgiveness and features a wonderful talk about God between the veteran and his friend, who happens to be a senior church pastor.
Caleb is an injured army veteran at the VA. There, he meets Amber who brings dogs from her shelter each Christmas to spend time with the servicemen and women. The two talk and sparks fly, but Amber leaves to talk to the other vets, and they don’t see each other again.
A year later, Caleb’s leg is better but he’s lacking purpose in his life. Also, his leg injury has caused him to question God’s role in his life and push his faith-oriented parents away from him. Caleb’s military friend, a church pastor, encourages him to start volunteering. Caleb happens to drive past Amber’s animal shelter and goes in to volunteer. She gladly accepts, and they start working together.
As Caleb and Amber get closer, they learn more about each other. Amber shares her financial worries for the shelter, while Caleb reveals that he and his parents have a complicated relationship. Following his accident, his parents encouraged him to trust in God’s plan and lean on his faith. However, Caleb found that difficult. He regrets that things are bad with his parents but is reluctant and unsure about mending fences.
Christmas gets closer, and Amber is preparing for the holiday pet adoption drive. She brainstorms with friends and family on ways to raise money and get pets into good homes. Caleb goes above and beyond to help Amber. For example, he gets a pet food company to pledge a year’s worth of supplies to the shelter. He also convinces an animal hospital to sponsor the adoption drive and has some other excellent marketing ideas. Meanwhile, Amber encourages Caleb to reconnect with his parents and adopt a dog from the shelter.
Their romance hits a snag, however, when one of the shelter’s young top donors also shows a romantic interest in Amber.
TAILS OF CHRISTMAS is a heartfelt holiday romance that balances its romantic plotline with strong themes of faith, family and helping others. The lead actors, Ash Tsai and Eric Guilmette, give good performances, and the many animals shown throughout the movie are so cute!
