More Detail:
At the Cooper’s Chase retirement home, Elizabeth, Ron and Ibrahim spend their Thursdays reviewing cold cases and working to solve them. Each brings their own history of expertise; Elizabeth is a former spy, Ron worked as a union leader and Ibrahim is a retired psychiatrist.
While working on a case, the group invite newcomer Joyce, a former nurse, to consult, but the cold case quickly gets pushed to the side when it’s revealed that the developer who owns Cooper’s Chase, Ian Ventham, plans to turn the property into luxury apartments.
The club throws themselves into protesting this decision, but when Tony, the co-owner of the retirement home, turns up dead, the Thursday Murder Club have a real crime to solve. Utilizing their connection with local police officer Donna, the group begins investigating.
The club discovers a number of clues, from financial documents pointing to a mysterious third owner, to a photo found at the crime scene showing a dangerous criminal who has long been presumed dead. Things get even more complicated when Ian Ventham collapses at a protest over the development, dead from a fentanyl overdose.
The Thursday Murder Club now has two dead bodies, the potential reappearance of the once-thought-dead criminal, and an unidentified set of bones found in a nearby graveyard. They must put all the clues together in time to catch the killer, before the killer catches up with them.
