TRIGGER WARNING

"Violent, Cliched Crime Thriller"

Watch:

What You Need To Know:

TRIGGER WARNING, produced by and starring Jessica Alba, is a crime thriller on Netflix. Alba plays Parker, a Special Forces soldier who returns to her hometown after receiving word her father tragically died in a mine collapse. Soon after arriving, Parker realizes her father’s death was no accident. She vows to avenge her father. However, she’s up against a vicious arms smuggling gang. The gang is willing to kill anyone who gets in their way.

TRIGGER WARNING is a vapid crime thriller with mediocre production values. Aside from Alba’s character, the movie relies on empty characters and cliches. The plot and characters are derivative, and the movie falls back on severe foul language and graphic violence to entertain viewers, but to no avail. There’s an emphasis on bringing evil to justice, but this moral is marred by a willingness from the heroine to mercilessly kill anyone to achieve that justice, in the name of avenging her father. On top of that, the choreography of many fight scenes is mediocre. TRIGGER WARNING has few redeeming qualities. MOVIEGUIDE® finds TRIGGER WARNING excessive and unacceptable.

More Detail:

TRIGGER WARNING is a new action, crime movie streaming on Netflix, produced by and starring Jessica Alba.

Alba stars as Parker, a Special Forces soldier who returns to her hometown to mourn her father’s death. Parker drinks away her grief with an old friend from High School named Mike. Parker tells Mike she plans to leave after the funeral.

Despite her plans, Parker takes over ownership of her father’s bar in town and connects her father’s old friends. Parker begins to ask questions about her father’s death after visiting the place where he died in a collapsed mine.

As preparations are made for her father’s funeral, Parker realizes that his sudden death is not all that it seems. She learns that the suspicious activity surrounding her father’s death could be connected to a weapons smuggling ring and a dangerous gang willing to kill anyone who gets in their way.

TRIGGER WARNING is a graphically violent movie that brings nothing new to the action movies or crime thrillers. The plot and characters are derivative, and the movie falls back on lots of severe foul language and graphic violence to entertain viewers, but to no avail.

Also, the cliches run rampant in TRIGGER WARNING, and there are little redeeming qualities by the end of the movie. There’s an emphasis on bringing evil to justice, but this moral is marred by a willingness from Parker to mercilessly kill to achieve that justice, in the name of avenging her father.

On top of TRIGGER WARNING’s many shortcomings, the choreography of many of the fight scenes is mediocre. Also, there are several production issues that detract from what little story the movie has going for it.
