SEX DRIVE

"Yet Another Raunchy Comedy Celebrating Promiscuity"

What You Need To Know:

SEX DRIVE is the story of high school senior, Ian, who goes on a road trip to visit a girl he met on the Internet, so he can lose his virginity. Ian steals his brother’s hot rod car and, along with his two best friends Felicia and Lance, hits the road. They have adventures as Ian admits that he has romantic feelings for Felicia, his female best friend. When he finally gets to his destination, he discovers that the girl he met on the internet is not who she said she was.

SEX DRIVE is competently made, with a few good comedy and character beats. The movie’s disturbing theme, raunchy humor and abundant foul language overshadow everything else, however. The movie assumes all teenagers are having sexual relations and that being a virgin is an oddity. Ian’s best friend Lance is in bed with two different women during the movie and talks about having many more. Ian’s younger brother is also involved with a girl, as shown by some lewd comments. This assumption that sexual immorality is normal is destroying many children. It also gives America a black eye overseas.

More Detail:

SEX DRIVE is the story of high school senior Ian who goes on a road trip to visit a girl he met on the Internet with whom he intends to lose his virginity. SEX DRIVE is competently produced, with a few good comedy and character beats. The plot has some interesting twists, though the story’s not original. The pacing is fast, and there are a few surprises along the way. The movie’s raunchy humor, abundant foul language and disturbing theme overshadow everything else, however.

For example, the movie assumes that all teenagers are having sexual relations and that Ian, a virgin, is an oddity. Ian’s best friend Lance is in bed with two different women in the movie and talks about many more. One of the women is much older than he is. Ian’s 14-year-old brother is also involved with a girl, as evidenced by lewd comments. This assumption that sexual immorality is okay and normal is literally destroying the lives of many children and adults and having a terrible effect on American culture. It is also ruining America’s reputation overseas. Thus, movies like this whittle away at any standard of morality.

SEX DRIVE also attacks religion. Because of car trouble, the trio has to stop in an Amish Christian community just as Rumspringer is starting, a period of time when Amish teens leave the community to visit the outside world. In SEX DRIVE, this is portrayed as a chance for all the Amish teenagers to drink and fornicate. This is an affront to the religious community. Also, a car with a Christian symbol on the bumper stops to help the stranded teenagers, only to have their young children see Felicia urinating on the side of the road. One of the young boys takes a picture.

At a carnival, the trio goes inside a tent at the request of an attractive, scantily clad teenager. Inside is a show with dancing girls, but it turns out to be a pro-abstinence rally as a pregnant teenager tells “her tragic story.” Not only does the scene not really make sense, it is intended to satirize anyone voicing an opinion against teenage immorality.

Furthermore, Ian’s older brother Rex, who is constantly calling Ian slang terms for homosexuals, turns out to be a homosexual himself. In the epilogue, the movie shows him hugging his boyfriend, and the family accepting them.

The foul language count is very high. Most of the foul language is uttered by teenagers.

SEX DRIVE is a terrible movie that media-wise viewers will want to avoid and stop their children and teenagers from seeing.
