What You Need To Know:
The graphic scenes in the WAY OF THE GUN are prolonged unnecessarily. The movie’s dark theme is reflected in its depiction of violence and crude behavior and in its blasphemous messages. For example, one criminal wonders what he will say to God when he dies. Viewers find out what he and his partner truly say to God when a narration says, “We don’t want your resolution . . . we don’t want your natural order of nature . . . we don’t want your forgiveness.” Regrettably, this bitter reflection is an attack against the only One who truly can offer peace and forgiveness. (ABABAB, PaPa, B, LLL, VVV, N, A, D, MM) Strong anti-God themes with some nihilistic pagan elements of characters involved in greed & rampant immorality & one moral element by minor character referring to the Lord’s Prayer & asking other character, “What will you say in your defense before God?”, plus some blasphemy by another character saying, “I’m gonna tell God when I see Him that I was framed,” & statements to God, “We don’t want your resolution or your order of nature . . . we don’t want your forgiveness . . . ”; more than 35 obscenities, 7 profanities, one expletive in Spanish, & several instances of crude language; extreme violence including men holding each other at gunpoint, bar fight, numerous shootout scenes with depicted corpses on ground, implied watching video of woman giving birth, man punches man in eye with some blood, man shoves other man against wall with arm also to choke him, man sewing stitches into own eyebrow, man shown attempting suicide by playing “Russian roulette” type of game with guns, threat of violence with reference to “day of reckoning,” depicted torture by stretching man, man pulls screaming pregnant girl by hair, depicted blood on woman’s thigh, depicted wounds, depicted men being shot in stomach, neck, leg & genitals, depicted caesarian section on woman in crude setting with cut in stomach & blood, & man jumps on top of broken glass with depicted glass in flesh; some kissing, man slaps girl on rear & men visit sperm bank; rear male nudity; alcohol use; smoking; and, kidnapping & deception.

WAY OF THE GUN depicts an extremely violent story about the kidnapping of a surrogate mother carrying a baby for a wealthy couple.
Juliette Lewis plays Robin, a young girl who agrees to be a surrogate mother for a million dollars. The couple who hire her to carry their baby are very wealthy. Two low-life criminals get the idea to kidnap the baby after visiting a sperm bank for some cash. Longbaugh (Benicio Del Toro) and Parker (Ryan Phillipe of CRUEL INTENTIONS) think they will merely kidnap Robin and demand ransom money, until they discover that the baby’s father is a schemer himself, and the duo are soon pursued by the father’s hit men.
Longbaugh is the tougher, less sensitive of the two men. Unlike Parker, who has developed a bit of sensitivity to Robin, he could care less. Merely wanting the money in exchange for the girl, he comes across Joe (James Caan of MICKEY BLUE EYES), who asks if he is the brains of the outfit. Longbaugh replies, “To tell you the truth, I don’t think this is a brains kind of outfit.” This statement rings true when the senseless violence and prolonged shootouts over money lead to a bloody end.
Although the innocents make it through this movie, the graphic scenes, including a depicted caesarian section in a dirty motel room, are not only unnecessary, but also prolonged. Some of the shootout scenes were unbelievable.
The movie’s dark theme is not only reflected in its depiction of violence and crude behavior, but also in its blasphemous messages to viewers. Parker is a hardened criminal who once heard a victim say the Lord’s Prayer before he shot him, so now he wonders what he will say to God when he dies. Parker brings the subject up to Longbaugh, who responds by saying, “I’m gonna tell God I was framed.” Viewers find out what they truly say to God when Longbaugh and Parker are both dying, while a narration says, “We don’t want your resolution . . . we don’t want your natural order of nature . . . we don’t want your forgiveness.” Regrettably, this bitter reflection is an explicit attack against the only One who truly can offer hope, peace and forgiveness.
Filled with extreme violence, foul language, blasphemy, and adult themes, the WAY OF THE GUN is abhorrent.
