More Detail:

Injecting a little comedy and Buddhism into a SEVEN-like plot, THE GLIMMER MAN has Steven Seagal and Keenen Ivory Wayans as Los Angeles police tracking down a Catholic-church attending goon who crucifies Catholic victims. Mixing in a totally extraneous and confusing sub-plot about the Russian Mafia, this movie will offend many Christians. Seagal is LAPD detective Jack Cole, a Buddhist with a mystery past. His partner is Jim Campbell. Cole makes a horrible discovery. His own ex-wife and her new husband are the killer’s newest victims, and Cole is instantly suspected as the killer. Cole reveals his past dealings with the Russian Mafia, and an unexpected killer is revealed. Like SEVEN, this movie suspects a killer who is preaching a “sermon” through the killings. Here, the viewer sees some very gruesome and bloody crucifixion scenes where the victims are nailed to the walls. Steven Seagal’s character is a hero who gives a primer on Buddhism to Campbell. Seagal’s “witness” is blown, however, when he says it is against his religion to fight, but does anyway.

Not only does this movie endorse Buddhism and slam Catholicism, but it also has many acts of violence. These problems and a confusing plot will probably kill off this action picture quickly. Extremely violent with many obscenities, this movie rates a zero.
