Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani Marry in Backyard Chapel: ‘Their Shared Faith Is Very Important’

By Movieguide® Staff

Musical artists Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani tied the knot on July 3, 2021, with their family-oriented wedding in the backyard of Shelton’s Oklahoma ranch house.

The couple wed at a chapel Shelton had built on the property, complete with a cross above the entryway.

“Their shared faith is very important,” a source told PEOPLE magazine. “Having the wedding at home was a way for their families — and Gwen — to be as comfortable as possible. Blake wanted the day to be perfect for Gwen. His love for her is so deep.”

The source added, “They’re a very family-oriented couple, and that’s exactly what the wedding was about. Family was at the center of everything.”

The couple chose THE VOICE host Carson Daly to officiate their wedding.

“Gwen and I both share a deep sense of faith. We talk a lot about faith, the two of us, and to work with them and their family to get to be a part of that day with my family was really an honor,” Daly said. “It was fun too. I don’t want people to think, ‘Oh, a big celebrity wedding.’ We had a blast all weekend long.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Stefani’s faith:

THE VOICE judge Gwen Stefani said that she relies on her faith during hardships.

“For me, I was turning to my faith right away,” Stefani said. “That was a seed that my mom planted in me when I was a little girl … it’s a journey. It’s almost like you get lost, it’s like you get lost on your journey. We all do and we all will and I will again at some point I’m sure.”

The 51-year-old singer-songwriter shared her outlook on life during a virtual interview on the TODAY show.

“I feel like it’s the way you handle things, you never know,” Stefani explained. “You’re gonna be blessed. You got to ask for the blessings. You got to keep engaged. That’s how I believe. That’s how I live my life. I’m getting better at it. It’s something you have to work on. It’s like a spiritual exercise every single day.”

Shelton has also been open about how his relationship with Stefani brought him closer to the Lord:

“I believe in God now more than I ever have in my life,” The Voice coach said. “The biggest part of that is just how (Gwen) came into my life and now our relationship. It’s just too weird. If you take God out of it, it doesn’t make sense. If you put God into it, everything that’s happened with us makes sense.”

Gwen is Gwen Stefani, also a recurring coach on the NBC singing show, produced by Christian Mark Burnett. Stefani is often spotted taking her children to church in Los Angeles.

Stefani invited him to church, and he’s been regularly attending services for the last few years.

Shelton incorporated his faith in his latest album, which includes faith-based singles “Jesus Got a Tight Grip,” and “God’s Country.”

The couple shared pictures of their big day on social media.
