Country Artist RaeLynn Shares Personal Pro-Life Anthem on New Album

By Movieguide® Staff

Country star RaeLynn dedicated several songs on her new album, “Baytown,” to her newly born daughter, Daisy.

RaeLynn wrote “Made for Me to Love” when she learned that she was pregnant with Daisy in January 2021. RaeLynn recently welcomed her newborn on Sept. 8.

At one point in the song, RaeLynn sings: “When I watched those two pink lines arrive that Wednesday afternoon, it went from just being me to me being me and you.”

In the track “She Chose Me,” RaeLynn sings about a mother who chooses to give birth to her child despite her circumstances.

In an Instagram reel, RaeLynn explained why she tackled the subject in more depth.

“‘She Chose Me,’ one of the tracks on BAYTOWN, hits close to home for me in many ways,” she wrote in the caption. “I consider it the prequel to my song, ‘Love Triangle.’ This album’s got a lot of sass and bass but I promised you I will always write from the heart and not shy away from the hard subjects. This song is my heart. Especially having my Baby Girl in my arms.”

In the video preview of the song, she sings: “If it went the other way, nobody would’ve blamed her. Think of all the small-town talk it would’ve saved her. She could’ve chosen one quick fix. To get her out of one big mess. But she chose me.”

RaeLynn emphasized that the song’s point was not to judge any particular group but to offer hope as a pro-life anthem.

“I started asking questions, and I found out some truths that I didn’t necessarily know and it was hard for me to know that my mom almost didn’t choose me, almost decided that she didn’t know if that was the right path for her. But I am so grateful that she decided to keep me and make that decision,” RaeLynn told Sounds Like Nashville. “If you listen to the song, I can’t imagine what that decision was like being married to somebody and just all those things, but I think the one thing I love about this song so much is it’s not judgmental.

“I would definitely say it’s my most personal yet,” she added. “When I released WildHorse, that was definitely the foundation of who I was when I first moved to Nashville and me figuring out what I wanted to say and figuring out what I wanted to write about and it created that beautiful foundation for me. I would for sure say that Baytown is me building this amazing house of what I want to represent and what I want to show people and what I want to give off.”
