Twitter Receives Backlash After Flagging ‘Misleading’ Obituary

By Movieguide® Staff

The backlash was immediate after Twitter flagged the obituary of a 37-year-old Jessica Berg Wilson that said the woman’s death was due to blood clots created by the COVID-19 vaccine.

Although the Seattle mother, who died on Sept. 7, expressed her aversion to getting the vaccine, Washington passed a recent law that required teachers to get the vaccine or face job termination.

To the outrage of many on the platform, Twitter flagged the obituary as “misleading.”

The big tech company has since removed its warning from the online obituary.

The obituary claimed that while Wilson was “vehemently opposed” to the vaccine, the state’s mandate forced teachers to receive a vaccine before October 2021.

“In her mind, the known and unknown risks of the unproven vaccine were more of a threat,” the document reads. “During the last weeks of her life, however, the world turned dark with heavy-handed vaccine mandates. Local and state governments were determined to strip away her right to consult her wisdom and enjoy her freedom.

“Her passion to be actively involved in her children’s education — which included being a Room Mom — was, once again, blocked by government mandate. Ultimately, those who closed doors and separated mothers from their children prevailed. It cost Jessica her life. It cost her children the loving embrace of their caring mother. And it cost her husband the sacred love of his devoted wife.”

Kelly Bee shared the obituary on her Twitter account.

“Jessica Berg Wilson, an ‘exceptionally healthy and vibrant 37-year-old young mother with no underlying health conditions,’ passed away from COVID Vaccine-Induced Thrombotic Thrombocytopenia. She did not want to get vaccinated. RIP,” she wrote.

Twitter responded to Bee’s post by putting a “misleading” label on the tweet.

US Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) slammed Twitter’s initial decision to apply the fact-check warning on the obituary.

“This obituary is ‘misleading’ says Twitter. ‘For [on Twitter] we are not afraid to follow the truth wherever it may lead,’ unless of course it contradicts what Dr. Fauci or the enlightened government and tech overlords say you must do for your healthcare… #HealthcareFreedom,” he wrote.

Tyler Cardon added: “There is nothing inaccurate or misleading about this Tweet, but Twitter wants you to believe there is.”

Former MANDALORIAN actress Gina Carano, who has been vocal about her position on the COVID-19 vaccine, responded to Bee’s tweet.

“When is enough going to be enough?” she wrote. “The vaccine is obviously not for everyone. Check the Vaers report. I know someone who passed away from the vaccine as well. Healthy 56-year-old woman. The vaccine took her out in 3 days. These Biden mandates are murdering these people.”

Twitter swiftly applied the same “misleading” label to Carano’s tweet.
