HARMONY FROM THE HEART

HARMONY FROM THE HEART is a romance airing on the GAC Family Channel about a grad student who must help rehabilitate a patient’s speech through music to graduate, but just might find love in the process. HARMONY FROM THE HEART is entertaining and generates several genuine laughs, but its moral pro-family elements are marred by a Romantic worldview and some superstitious behavior.

Violet is a grad student whose dream is to pursue music therapy professionally. However, Violet’s been slacking on her written assignments in favor patient sessions. Furthermore, according to her professor, she won’t be able to graduate if she keeps it up. Thankfully, her professor says that if she can help a patient using music therapy in the next two weeks, by Valentine’s Day, she won’t fai,l and he will recommend her for hospital work. The patient is the professor’s brother, Charles Carver, who’s lost his ability to speak because of a stroke.

Violet goes out of town to meet Charles and his family. Meanwhile, her friend, Tess, is planning her annual single Valentine’s Day single’s mixer.

When Violet arrives at the local hospital, she meets Dr. Blake Williams, who says Charles has been discharged for home care. Dr. Williams is taken aback when Violent mentions that she’s a music therapist, but the two don’t think much of the meeting.

To make a good impression for Charles and his wife, Violet buys chocolates from a local store. It turns out the owner, Max, is the Carvers’ grandson, so Violet gets chocolates she knows Mrs. Carver will like. Once Violet arrives, Mrs. Carver tells her where she’ll be staying and takes her to meet Charles.

Violet and Charles start their first session, but it’s a lot for Mrs. Carver to handle. On Valentine’s Day, it will be their 50th anniversary. All she wants is to be able to hear Charles say he loves her on their special day. Unexpectedly, Dr. Williams shows up at the foot of the stairs. He’s the Carvers’ other grandson, and he’ll be supervising the therapy sessions with Violet.

Violet confides in her friend about Dr. Williams, who has a pessimistic attitude toward music therapy, but her friend thinks there might be something between them. Meanwhile, Max and Dr. Williams talk about love and bachelordom in light of Valentine’s Day, which is fast approaching.

Will Violet be able to make her Valentine’s Day deadline and graduate on time? Or will she find more than just a degree in the process?

HARMONY FROM THE HEART is a solid TV movie with good pacing and stakes. The movie has some aerial shots to set the stage for the action, and the two lead actors have good chemistry. Also, HARMONY AND THE HEART is entertaining and generates several genuine laughs. Unsurprisingly, the movie has a strong Romantic worldview. For example, characters talk about soulmates, love and the beauty of music. Also, there’s a superstitious mention of a “love chakra.” However, one character stresses the value of being intentional when it comes to finding a significant other, rather than just relying on destiny. Also, HARMONY FROM THE HEART promotes taking care of one’s family and talks about celebrating a special wedding anniversary.
