Paramount Confirms 2025 Release for New, Unnamed A QUIET PLACE Movie

By Movieguide® Contributor

At their recent annual investor day presentation, Paramount Pictures confirmed a 2025 debut for the third installment of the box office hit franchise, A QUIET PLACE.

While it is unclear if Emily Blunt and John Krasinski will return for the spin-off, Deadline reported that the unnamed third movie would take place in the same universe as the first two movies.

Movieguide® previously reported that John Krasinski is likely to step down from the director role:

Director Michael Sarnoski is in talks with Paramount Pictures to direct the next installment in the A QUIET PLACE franchise.

Actor John Krasinski directed and starred in the previous two A QUIET PLACE movies. While the third movie will reportedly be set in the same world as the first two movies, it will be a spinoff rather than completing the threequel.

“Not much more is known about this project other than it not being a threequel but rather a spinoff, based on an idea from John Krasinski, who directed and starred in the first two films. The hope is this film would help set up a potential Quiet Place universe that the studio can build on for years to come. It is also known that, while not out of the question, Emily Blunt and Krasinski likely would not reprise their roles in this installment.”

Previously, Movieguide® honored A QUIET PLACE as one of the Best Movies for Mature Audiences in 2018. Movieguide® also nominated real-life husband and wife duo Blunt and Krasinski for the Grace Prize® for their performances in A QUIET PLACE.

Movieguide® recently announced the 2021 nominees. A QUIET PLACE PART II received a nomination for Best Movies for Mature Audiences and Blunt earned her second Grace Prize® nomination.

A portion of Movieguide®’s review of A QUIET PLACE reads:

A QUIET PLACE takes psychological thrillers to a new level with a heartfelt story of a family trying to survive vicious creatures that hunt by sound. The opening sets the stage. The Abbott family is scavenging for supplies in a post-apocalyptic town. The parents speak sign language to their children, urging them to be quiet. The scene quickly reveals what happens if you’re too loud. It makes every single sound terrifying for the rest of the movie. The Abbotts try to live a normal life without sound, but that’s easier said than done.

A QUIET PLACE keeps viewers on the edge of their seats. John Krasinski provides great direction, from his brilliant use of style to the cast’s winning performances. The simple story seamlessly transitions between thrills and emotional moments. Everything’s grounded in the positive relationships among the Abbott family. Themes of love and protection provide a refreshing, healthy depiction of family bonds. The suspense isn’t for the faint of heart. Even so, A QUIET PLACE is a strong allegory for parenting and “training a child in the way they should go.”
