Kurt Russell and son Wyatt are teaming up on screen for Apple TV+’s upcoming unnamed Godzilla series.

According to Deadline, the show will follow a family as they uncover secrets that reveal a legacy that links them to the mysterious Monarch organization.

The show is the latest installment in Legendary’s Monsterverse franchise, following GODZILLA, KONG:SKULL ISLAND, GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS, and GODZILLA VS. KONG.

The Russells’ roles are not yet clear, but it’s fair to assume that the two real-life family members will also be family in the show.

WANDAVISION’s Matthew Shakman is set to direct the first two episodes of the series.

Movieguide® previously reported on the show’s development:

Apple’s streaming platform, Apple TV+, recently announced a new Godzilla show set just after the events of 2014’s GODZILLA.

Created by Chris Black and Matt Fraction, the new series will focus on one family who discovers the hidden secrets about Godzilla, the King of the Monsters, and the Titans he faces.

“Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking new reality that monsters are real, the series explores one family’s journey to uncover its buried secrets and a legacy linking them to the secret organization known as Monarch,” the logline reads.

According to Gizmodo, Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita of Toho, which owns Godzilla, are also leading the project set in the Warner Bros. Monsterverse.

Movieguide® found the 2014 GODZILLA to be extremely exciting and well directed, with stellar visual effects and terrifying sound design. The movie has a subtle environmentalist theme against nuclear power based on mythological pagan worldviews. However, it also has some strong moral, redemptive, patriotic elements. For example, it extols self-sacrifice and courage, and an American soldier says a Christian prayer at one point.
