Jamie Lynn Spears Celebrates ‘Miracle Anniversary’ Of Daughter Maddie’s Near-Fatal Accident
By Movieguide® Contributor
Jamie Lynn Spears is reflecting on the nearly-fatal accident that her daughter Maddie survived almost five years ago.
When Maddie was 8 years old, she crashed the all-terrain vehicle she was driving and fell into a pond. She was submerged in the water for about two minutes, strapped onto the vehicle and unable to get free.
After being freed from the ATV, Maddie was taken to the hospital. She suffered no brain damage and is completely recovered.
“We did a lot of work, obviously, to process it, and now it’s more about focusing on the positive and the fact that it is a miracle — and that is not the case for so many people,” Spears said, looking back on the terrifying incident.
She went on to say that the family was “very blessed.”
“Things like that don’t just happen for no reason,” Spears continued. “That’s how we discuss it now. It’s our miracle anniversary, not our accident anniversary. And both Maddie and I are so grateful.”
Spears reflected on the accident further in a recent Instagram post.
“Maybe, it’s just a little reminder to remain faithful through the good times and the bad times,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “I mean, I had nothing when I thought I lost my baby girl, so my faith was literally all I had left to cling to. I thank God everyday for the extraordinary medical professionals, all the prayer warriors, and the countless angels in heaven, and on earth who made our miracle possible.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Spears’ daughter’s accident and recovery:
Jamie Lynn Spears (Nickelodeon’s ZOEY’S 101) thanked God for reviving her daughter Maddie after a life-threatening ATV accident in 2017.
“In that moment I just…spiritually, mentally, everything changed,” Spears said in a new podcast. “I’ve faced my worst fear now. What else can I mess up or do wrong that will be as horrible as that? Nothing. There’s nothing. God gave me the blessing of giving me my daughter back. I lost her and I got her back.”
On the podcast Better Together with Maria Menounos, Spears recalled her fear as a mother.
“I’ve never really talked about it publicly,” Spears told Menounos. “So, without going into too much detail, we were sitting there watching her with every safety measure that could be taken when she somehow or another, drove into the water.”
“There’s nothing worse,” said Spears referring to the life-altering event.
Miraculously, Maddie made a full recovery!
Menounos commented on Spears’s post about the interview, “What a great reminder of faith and healing. We really are better together. ? thank you Jamie always here for you!”
