Brian Bird Drops WHEN CALLS THE HEART Season 11 Spoilers

By Movieguide® Contributor

In a recent “Heart to Hearties” interview, WHEN CALLS THE HEART co-creator Brian Bird and showrunner Lindsay Sturman discussed the next season and shared a few spoilers.

“There’s going to be a wedding in season 11,” Bird revealed. “I’m not going to say what it is or who’s getting married, but there’s going to be another wedding in Hope Valley. How about that? I’m looking forward to that.”

Sturman also shared what she’s most excited about in the upcoming season.

“I was gonna say who flashed the headlights at Lucas…And also, what Elizabeth’s next chapter is now that this huge change happened. So that’s what I’m excited for,” she said.

Season 10 ended on a cliffhanger, leaving fans wondering what is coming next.

TV Insider reported, “What should have been Elizabeth and Lucas’ wedding instead was the election, with him running against Governor Balfour to stop the other man from destroying smaller towns. As a result, the couple parted ways, though remained in touch in the finale and she stressed that she wasn’t mad at him about it.”

“As one relationship ended, another potential one was sparking, with Elizabeth sharing moments with Nathan (after choosing Lucas the first time around with this triangle). In fact, the last she speaks of anything related to her love life before more pressing matters arise to leave the season off on a cliffhanger, it sure sounds like she could be telling her late husband (at his grave) that she chose Lucas because she didn’t want to risk picking the option that would be as painful as losing him was,” the outlet summarized.

Last week, WHEN CALLS THE HEART’s Instagram posted, “Things might be changing in Hope Valley. But what’s not changing is that we’ll be back next year with a NEW season of WHEN CALLS THE HEART! See you in 2024 for Season 11.”

The exact date for the show’s return has not been released yet, but it is expected in spring or summer of 2024.

As WHEN CALLS THE HEART season 10 draws to a close, fans have anxiously wondered what the future holds for Hope Valley and for Chris McNally’s character Lucas.

In an interview, showrunner Lindsay Sturman revealed that Lucas will return in season 11.

“Lucas is one of our leads and he always will be and he’s an incredible actor,” Sturman said. “His journey is incredibly exciting in season 11. And I think that…we get to see a side of him that we didn’t know…We went back and kind of mined what did we know about him, and then…carry those stories through because…there’s so much richness to the stories that we inherited. And then just growing them from there.”

While Lucas and Elizabeth’s (Erin Krakow) paths “were diverging,” his story will move in a new direction.

Do you think Elizabeth will return to Lucas in the next season?
