Angel Studios Begins Production of New Series TESTAMENT From Book of Acts

By Movieguide® Contributor

Angel Studios has announced the production and cast of their new series, TESTAMENT.

According to Angel Studios, “Testament the TV series is a multi-season show that will begin with the Day of Pentecost and journey through the rest of the Book of Acts.”

According to the production agency, Roarlight, TESTAMENT is “A reimagining of the Book of Acts in a world that looks very much like our own today. Starting on the day of Pentecost, this series brings the accounts of the Early Church to life like never before.

The series will be directed by Paul Syrstad and produced by Jackie Shepherd.

The cast of the series includes “Eben Figueiredo (SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY), Charlie Beaven (THE CROWN), Yasmin Paige (SUBMARINE), Stewart Scudamore (RISEN), Mogali Masuku (THE GOLD), Tom Simper (EASTENDERS), Kenneth Omole (TOP BOY), John Omole (CHEWING GUM), Aadar Malik (MODERN LOVE MUMBAI), and Bobbie Little (DOCTOR STRANGE IN THE MULTIVERSE OF MADNESS), Gary Oliver (GAME OF THRONES), Mido Hamada (AMERICAN SNIPER), Solomon Israel (DOCTOR WHO), and Lizzie Hopley (THE CROWN).”

The fanbase for the show is already on the rise and in large part because of the featured film, TESTAMENT: THE PARABLES RETOLD, that was released in 2022.

Episode one will begin 50 days after Jesus was resurrected and will follow several heroes of the Bible as they begin the church.

Specifically, the show will take viewers on a journey through the lives of Peter, Stephen, Mary Magdalene, John, Gamaliel, Saul of Tarsus, and others.

“Testament connects audiences to the Bible in a way that is refreshing and new. While biblical stories are filled with action, danger, and hope, many people find the text difficult to engage with and not relatable. By setting Testament in modern day, the show hopes to draw in a younger audience and remind viewers of the ground-breaking movement Christians are called to be a part of,” Angel Studios wrote.

More information regarding the series will be announced as filming begins.
