THE BLOODY HUNDREDTH Honors Heroes Who Inspired MASTERS OF THE AIR

Apple TV+ just announced THE BLOODY HUNDREDTH, a documentary that honors the real-life heroes of the 100th Bomb Group who inspired MASTERS OF THE AIR.
“Airmen from 40 American bomber groups bled and died in staggering numbers in air combat. One of these groups suffered so many casualties it became known as The Bloody Hundredth,” the trailer reveals.
“From the shock of Pearl Harbor to the joy of VE Day, THE BLOODY HUNDREDTH is a record of what was endured and achieved by a group of young Americans when their country and the world needed them most,” a press release said.
The hour-long documentary features “rarely seen archival footage and exclusive interviews with the 100th Bomb Group airmen.”
It’s directed by Mark Herzog and Laurent Bouzereau and is narrated by Tom Hanks and executive produced by Steven Spielberg, Hanks and Gary Goetzman.
THE BLOODY HUNDREDTH “spotlights the true stories of several characters and real-life airmen featured in MASTERS OF THE AIR including John Egan (played by Callum Turner), Gale Cleven (played by Austin Butler), Harry Crosby (played by Anthony Boyle), Robert ‘Rosie’ Rosenthal (played by Nate Mann), Frank Murphy (played by Jonas Moore), Alexander Jefferson (played by Brandon Cook), Richard Macon (played by Josiah Cross), as well as veterans John ‘Lucky’ Luckadoo, Robert Wolf, and many others.”
Movieguide® praised MASTERS OF THE AIR’s “Strong moral worldview with redemptive and very strong Pro-American, patriotic elements [that] honor…patriotic duty, service, courage under fire, camaraderie, and sacrifice.”

Episode 1 and 2 of MASTERS OF THE AIR are exciting, suspenseful, and beautifully produced and acted. The music by Blake Neely is stirring and outstanding. The episodes honor the courage, talent and sacrifices of the men in. the 100th Bombing Group. However, they have intense violence and lots of foul language, including several “f” words and at least 15 strong profanities. So, MOVIEGUIDE® advises extreme caution.

Episodes 3 and 4 of MASTERS OF THE AIR have many intense, suspenseful moments. The air battles are harrowing. The whole production is superbly crafted and acted. MASTERS OF THE AIR has strong moral, Pro-American, patriotic values. The brave airmen are committed to defeating Hitler’s war machine, despite everything they must endure. Sadly, Episode 3 has lots of foul language, twice that of Episode 4. Also, Episode 4 has a steamy bedroom scene that gets explicit. So, MOVIEGUIDE® advises extreme caution for Episodes 3 and 4 of MASTERS OF THE AIR.
“THE BLOODY HUNDREDTH will premiere globally on Friday, March 15, 2024 on Apple TV+, just in time for the MASTERS OF THE AIR series finale,” the statement added.
