One of the most nostalgic Christmas icons is about to be restored to its former 90’s glory. The HOME ALONE house has been purchased, and the new owner has big plans for the memorable house.

ABC7 reported, “The holiday classic debuted 35 years ago. Now the iconic house featured in the film is in the spotlight again. It underwent an interior renovation and was sold earlier this year. Now we’re learning that it will be transformed back to the way it looked in 1990 when film audiences got to peek inside it for the first time.”

ABC continued, “John Abendshien is the former owner of the Winnetka house. He is fond of memories of the day spent filming the movie. The interesting part is that after the shoots, the cast and crew just kind of hung around because they were away from home themselves, and the home became kind of a second home to them.”

Abendshien previously told The Independent what it was like to live in the famous home.

“I always thought it had a warm vibe! But when I saw the completed film for the first time, and the scene where Kevin is preparing to do battle with the Wet Bandits, with John Williams’ soundtrack in the background, and those eerie lights coming out of the house, I thought yes, I get the ‘menacing’ bit now!”

He continued, “I cannot explain it to this day, but when we pulled up and looked at it something about that place just captured my heart,” he says. “For one thing I really love natural light, and that home has an abundance of windows. I just liked the shape of it. True confession, we pretty much bought the house from the curb.”

Now the new owners plan to fully embrace what the home was in the classic Christmas film. The Project Manager Scott Price shared more on the vision for the house.

“Our vision is to bring back the warmth and just the love from the movie,” Price said. “There was so many great colors and it just made you feel like family and like home and we want to bring that magic back.”

Even Macaulay Culkin once considered buying the home himself.

“I had half a mind to buy it — just for giggles,” Culkin admitted. However, the now 45-year-old child star decided he is not in a place to take on such a project. “I got kids. I’m busy, man,” he explained.

Stay tuned for further updates as the Home Alone house undergoes renovation!
