Priscilla Shirer reminded her fans that the power of the Lord is always available, the question is whether we have the ability to connect with Him or not through Christ and the Holy Spirit.
“My parents didn’t let us watch a lot of TV… We didn’t have cable. We didn’t have DirecTV we didn’t have all of that. We just had the basic channels at our house, which is why when I moved out around 23 years old or so, the very first luxury that I wanted to have was cable. I will never forget the day the cable man comes… he finished what he needed to do, came around to the front, gave me the remote control and he said, ‘Push the guide button,’” Shirer recalled.

“I pushed the guide button and I had never seen in my life all of these hundreds of options that were available to me,” she continued. “All of those channels had always been available it’s just that I just now got the hookup to tap into their frequency. And when you place faith in Jesus Christ, you receive the greatest gift you will ever receive this side of eternity. You get the Holy Spirit, and He’s the hookup. Now it means, you have ears to hear.”
Shirer often uses her platform to speak to the power of the Lord and the amazing things He can and will do if we take the time to connect with Him. She believes that prayer is the most important part of any Christian’s life because it allows us to be present with the Lord.
“Practice God’s presence all day long,” Shirer previously said. “That idea takes the guilt off of ‘I didn’t have my quiet time and it didn’t look like this and it didn’t fit in a comfortable little box.’ Do it however you’ve got to do it. Practice God’s presence all day long.”
The actress has also shared why consistently reading the Bible is so important: because it allows us to know the Lord’s character and hear His voice. It is only if we know who the Lord is that we are able to tap into his power in our own lives.
“When you know His character, when you know the nuances of what He does say and what He wouldn’t say because of how He spoke to our forefathers…when you see His personality and His character, then you know when you hear the voice of fear: ‘That don’t sound like my God,’” Shirer said. “We can quickly pinpoint the voice of a stranger, because if we know God, the more clearly we can discern and divide His voice from a stranger.”
Shirer’s fun illustration of the Lord’s power is a wonderful reminder of how blessed Christians are that we have a Lord who cares for us this side of heaven and wants to bless us, despite our shortcomings.
