Anne Wilson is taking a moment to encourage those who may be facing difficulties this holiday season. In a post to Instagram, she began by sharing the lyrics of a song she wrote.

“Just because it’s Christmas doesn’t mean your heart don’t hurt. It’s because Christmas doesn’t mean there’s peace on earth. Joy to all the world can be the hardest time of year. But see the star even here,” she recited.

She then explained the powerful meaning behind the song. “Those are the lyrics of my song ‘Just Because it’s Christmas,’ and I wrote that song because my brother passed away eight years ago, and I needed a reminder that it’s okay to not be okay during the holiday season,” she explained. “The holidays are the hardest time of year for me and my family, and I needed a reminder that I could come to Jesus with my wounded heart. I could bring it to the manger, and he would meet me there. I hope this encourages you today that if Christmas is hard for you and you feel just at the end of it all, Jesus is with you, and he is there to comfort you.”

People in the comment section of the post appreciated the reminder.

“I love this!!! We always forget that not everybody is having the best time on this season, and this beautiful song has everything it needs to be understood,” one person said. Another person added, “Anne, you’re so sweet, thank you for this reminder. We are all in a testimony of some sort.”

Wilson has been open about her own journey through grief. Earlier this year, she told Holler how she has relied on her faith in God to carry her through.

“My faith has been the biggest thing that got me through the loss of my brother,” she told the outlet. “That’s given me the perspective of being grateful for every day we have with our loved ones. Every day we had with him was a gift, even though I wish I could go back and spend more time with him. But I had 15 years with him, and I’m so grateful I did. We’re not promised tomorrow, so it reminds me to be in the moment with the people you love and cherish that. Faith has helped me do that”.

2 Corinthians 5:7 says, “For we live by faith, not by sight.” Wilson’s story is a reminder that even when things don’t look good, faith in God is what carries us through.
