HAVE WE MET THIS CHRISTMAS? is a surprising Christmas romantic comedy that has top-notch directing, writing, editing, and acting with a beautiful tale of gratitude, true love, the important things in life, trusting in and listening to the Lord, and forgiveness. Audiences will appreciate that the filmmakers took their time to make this a professional movie. Great American Family continues to deliver charming entertainment that satisfies right to the very end. Again, it is a predictable storyline, but that is how it should be when making a movie about a man and a woman who are at odds, only to reconcile and become romantically involved by the end. However, the movie does include a surprising element that viewers will appreciate.

Every actor does a fantastic job! Danica McKellar excels in her performance as awkward, but well-meaning Katie. Jesse Hutch gives a charming performance as Emmett. His smile alone could light up any room he is in. Riley Weston, who plays Emmett’s cousin Brooke and co-wrote the movie’s screenplay, showed up to change the family dynamic that usually includes just the main character’s mom and dad. Speaking of the mom and dad, Nancy La Scala and John Posey do tremendous work as Emmett’s wise and caring parents. Viewers will breathe a sigh of relief that Great American Family crafted a movie the whole family can enjoy without skipping parts.

HAVE WE MET THIS CHRISTMAS? begins with Katie’s boss complimenting her on her hard work at the company. She is ready to buy the Merry Mountain Inn. Maggie, the receptionist, applauds her for her job performance and encourages the retreat Katie is going on for Christmas, which will be an important time for her to relax, alleviate her constant headaches, and detox from technology.

Meanwhile, Emmet arrives at the inn and sees his cousin Brooke decorating the front door. Brooke asks him how his date went, and Emmett says the food was good, but he didn’t click with his date. Brooke wants him to find his person and to be happy. She asks about Katie, and Emmett says she is living it up in the city. Brooke points out that he used to be in love with her, but Emmett dismisses Katie as ancient history.

At the inn, Emmett’s parents break the news to him that they are selling the inn. Emmett convinces them to at least check if the deal has been finalized and goes to the real estate office to plead his case. He realizes that Katie works there and, after catching up, tries to convince her to discuss the selling of the property, but she turns him down. Katie gets into a car accident in a blizzard and ends up in the care of Emmett’s parents at the inn with no recollection of who she is or how she ended up at the Merry Mountain Inn.
