Jamie Foxx to Return for BEAT SHAZAM Season 7

By Movieguide® Contributor

Jamie Foxx and his daughter Corinne are returning to host Season 7 of Fox’s musical game show BEAT SHAZAM.

The show pits teams of two against each other as they compete to name the hit song being played. The last team standing is given the opportunity to duel the app Shazam for a grand prize of $1 million.

Foxx missed Season 6 of the show as he recovered from an undisclosed health scare that occurred in April 2023. Nick Cannon filled in as host of the show during that season.

“Jamie and Corinne are the heart and soul of BEAT SHAZAM,” said Allison Wallach, president of unscripted entertainment at Fox Entertainment. “As our undeniably dynamic father-daughter hosting team, they bring a relationship like no other to a show like no other, and it’s wonderful having them back on set this season.”

This season will feature multiple themed episodes, including teams of mothers, fathers, siblings, teachers and heroes. Season 7 will premiere on Tuesday, May 28, at 8 p.m. ET on Fox and will stream on Hulu.

BEAT SHAZAM isn’t the only project Foxx has returned to since recovering from his health scare. In January, he was seen returning to his upcoming film BACK IN ACTION, which he stars in alongside Cameron Diaz. As the actor has continued with his recovery, he has started to open up about the severity of what occurred last April.

“I’ve been through something. I’ve been through some things. You know, it’s crazy, I couldn’t do that six months age. I couldn’t actually walk,” Foxx said while accepting the Vanguard Award at the Critics Choice Association’s Celebration of Cinema and Television: Honoring Black and Latino and AAPI Achievements.

“I wouldn’t wish what I went though on my worst enemy because it’s tough,” he continued. “I have a new respect for life. I have a new respect for my art. I watched so many movies and listened to so many songs trying to have the time go by.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Foxx:

Jamie Foxx is thanking fans for their prayers after a serious health scare earlier this year.

“This birthday is a special one,” the actor wrote in an Instagram post. “I wanna start by saying thank you to everyone that prayed for me when I was in a bad way…here lately I’ve been able to thank some of you personally but I want to say to all of you. I NEEDED EVERY PRAYER…you lifted me through…I was able to make it to today because of your prayers…I consider all of you my family.”

Foxx added, “Thank you to my immediate family, and everybody who chipped in to make sure that I could celebrate on this day… I’m sending our complete joy to everybody.”
