Sadie Robertson Huff Talks Finding Your Identity: ‘Who is God to You?’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Sadie Robertson Huff is speaking up about what it means to find your identity in Christ.

She began with a story from THE LION KING, describing how after Simba lived his “Hakuna Matata” life, he saw his father in him and knew he had to return to his people despite the darkness there.

“As Simba’s running back, he lets out this giant roar, and as soon as he lets out this roar, Scar turns around and with fear in Scar’s eyes, the enemy of this movie, he says, ‘Mufasa?’ recognizing Simba’s father’s voice in him,” she explained, adding that the disciple Peter had the same experience.

“When he [Peter] got a good glimpse of who God was, he was reminded of who he was and then he’s going to go out and try to start a church. He did start a church that the gates of hell shall not prevail,” Huff continued.

“Notice, when Peter recognized who Jesus was, Jesus in return told Peter who he was,” Huff explained, per The Christian Post.

“Peter’s identity was found in who Jesus said he was, after first establishing that Jesus is God. That’s the most important question you can answer tonight, friends: Who is God to you?”

She added, “Moses had the same revelation. Moses is kind of living his own ‘Hakuna Matata’ lifestyle where he had run from Egypt, and he’s tending this mountain, and all of a sudden, this burning bush comes. But the bush is not burning, and God begins to declare Moses’ name. Then God tells Moses what he’s called to do. He’s called to go back into this place that’s very intimidating for Moses to go back to.”

“Moses asked God the question many of us have,” Huff explained. “He asked God, ‘Who am I? Who am I, God, that I could go do what you’re calling me to do?’ And I love what God said in response to Moses…God said this. He said, ‘I am who I am, and when you go back and people ask who sent you, you just tell them that the Great I Am sent you.'”

“It doesn’t matter if we try to figure out who we are. What really matters is if we figure out who he is,” she said.

“So, friends, when you get a good look at who God is, and you know who you are, and you’re reminded of what you’re called to do, the enemy will no longer try to intimidate you because he’s intimidated by who God is within you,” she said.

Huff frequently speaks about identity.

“We’re scrolling through social media trying to figure out answers to these massive questions about who we are…Instead of really leaning into the voice of God,” Huff said, per Great American Pure Flix Insider.

“I love social media, but none of that can tell me more about who I am than the One who knit me together in my mother’s womb,” she added, referencing Psalm 139:13.

Movieguide® previously reported on Huff:

In a recent episode of Sadie Robertson Huff’s “Whoa That’s Good” podcast, the Christian influencer encouraged her followers to get to know God so they can understand and apply the Bible better.

“Where is your faith today, friend? What a gift it is to be able to put our faith in the same God who raised Jesus from the grave! Get to know Him and receive the peace everyone is searching for!” Huff captioned the post.

“If you’re going to be confident that God being with you is going to be the thing that’s going to make you not afraid, then you really have to get to know who God is. Because if you don’t know who God is, then that doesn’t really mean anything to you,” she shared.
