Actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson Says ‘My Priority Is My Family’

Actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson is sharing his thoughts on the duties of fatherhood.
“You realize it’s your job to protect the purest, most innocent thing that’s come into the world,” he told Rolling Stone UK. “And it’s your duty to be their role model.”
Taylor-Johnson shares two daughters with his wife, director Sam Taylor-Wood, and is stepfather to her two daughters from a previous marriage.
“You are going to be reflected in their choices later on in life, from who their partners are to how they carry themselves in the world,” the actor continued.
Taylor-Johnson also spoke about his efforts to balance work and home life.
“I’m just trying to juggle my family and my work. I’m doing normal life; dentist appointments,” he explained. “Career doesn’t necessarily take a back seat, but it takes a different thought behind the choices that you make.”
Taylor-Johnson spoke further about his commitment to being a father in a 2013 interview with The Independent.
“My whole thing, my priority, is my family, my kids and my wife. That’s my future. I don’t really care about what role is next,” he explained. “I’m not attached to things, I don’t have that ambitious thing that most actors my age have. I don’t live to act, to go from job to job…I live for my wife and my kids and I wake up to them and that’s what I enjoy.”
The actor has previously shared his love of being a parent.
“I knew I was going to be a young father. I knew I was going to have many kids,” the 33-year-old told Esquire.
He added, “I enjoy the normality of things, the everyday stuff. Getting my kids ready in the mornings, taking them to school and activities — that’s plenty. That feeds my soul.”
