Tim Tebow Grateful for ‘Heroes’ Who Rescued 59 Haitian Children

By Movieguide® Contributor

Tim Tebow is thankful that 59 Haitian children were rescued from a life-threatening situation.

The former NFL player said on Instagram:

“On this day I’m so grateful. I’m grateful for the amazing frontline heroes that have all come together to care for 59 incredible image-bearers from Haiti who have severe disabilities but are incredible fighters. They have been relocated out of danger and into freedom! Thank you to everyone involved – so many to thank as there really is power when we come together…

He also thanked the Jamaican government. “You didn’t have to welcome these children, but you chose to see their value and worth and make a place for them,” he wrote.

Tebow expressed his gratitude to several other organizations who aided the mission:

Thank you to The Sentinel Foundation, Adam LaRoche with E3 Foundation, the Anti-Trafficking Bureau from the DR, Kevin Guthrie with the FL Division of Emergency Management, Cory Mills, myLIFEspeaks, Mission of Hope, HaitiOne, the caregivers from HaitiChildren, our team of volunteers, and the doctors and nurses.

Lastly, please join me in prayer for these precious image-bearers and that they are able to experience safety, hope, and healing!

So grateful. Only God!

Tebow’s foundation joined forces with Sentinel Foundation to rescue the children from Haiti, whose residents face famine and intense political turmoil.

Fox News reported that “the changing conditions made it difficult to plan an operation that used land, air and sea methods.”

The mission was successful, and the children are now safe in Jamaica. But “thousands [still] remain trapped in the troubled island nation,” Fox News says.

Austin Holmes, operations officer at Sentinel, elaborated on rescue difficulties: “The largest obstacle in our mission was probably the rapidly changing and tightening restrictions from the U.S. and host nations like the Dominican Republic.”

“We understand they are seeking to protect, but when you effectively cut out the private sector, who is significantly quicker and often more entrepreneurial in their response and capabilities, you limit the level of care and reduce the number of people served,” Holmes said. “This remains a major obstacle in the humanitarian crisis facing Haiti.”

Tebow is not only passionate about protecting kids with disabilities, but he actively fights for other vulnerable children, too.

Movieguide® reported on his efforts to fight human trafficking:

Tim Tebow and his foundation are raising money to build the TTF Protection Center in Thailand as a place to protect up to forty girls rescued from human trafficking.

In a recent Instagram video, Tebow shared, “A few years ago, we deepened our fight in this terrible evil in the world of human trafficking and child exploitation. And in the last 365 days, we’re so excited to share with you that we have grown so much and been part of rescuing thousands and building safe homes in so many different countries.”

Tebow also recently spoke to lawmakers in Congress. He urged them to create a task force that would rescue an estimated 50,000 children from human trafficking.

“There’s so many frontline warriors and heroes, but there’s just not enough. And we need to support them, and we need more of them to get these 50,000 boys and girls,” he said. “So this bill is strictly to create a rescue team that has the funding, the support, the training, the technology, so that they can get to these 50,000.”
