Dwayne Johnson Calls Daughters ‘My Greatest’ Inspiration, Joy

By Movieguide® Contributor

Actor Dwayne Johnson just finished his voice recordings for the upcoming MOANA 2, and his daughters were there to help.

“That’s an official wrap (for now) on MAUI’s portion of our upcoming MOANA 2,” he posted on Instagram along with some photos of his daughters. “As you see I had the greatest motivation to help me push thru to keep me strong ?❤️”

“The more down this windy road of life I go, the more I realize that my greatest and most comforting inspiration and joy, is being loved by my daughters. I have a feeling this little one already knows that about her daddy. Thanks everyone for your amazing support,” Johnson added.

“There’s her proof that he really is Maui! ?” one user joked in the comments.

“AND THANK YOU!!!!” another commented, referring to his song “You’re Welcome” from the first movie.

MOANA 2 is set to release in November 2024. The film will also see the return of Auli’i Cravalho as Moana and Alan Tudyk as Hei Hei.

“Joined by Maui and a brand-new crew of unlikely seafarers, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced,” a synopsis reads.

“Playing the character of Maui is one of the most life-changing life experiences for me and life-changing roles,” Johnson said.

In addition to the animated sequel, a live-action MOANA is in the works although Johnson is the only known returning cast member.

Movieguide® previously reported on the upcoming MOANA projects:

MOANA 2 is coming to theaters Nov. 27.

“MOANA remains an incredibly popular franchise,” Disney CEO Bob Iger said in a statement about the new movie. “We can’t wait to give you more of Moana and Maui when MOANA 2 comes to theaters this November…”

Auli’i Cravalho is expected to reprise her role as Moana, while Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is still in negotiations to return as Maui. However, Johnson is set to play Maui in an upcoming live-action remake of MOANA.

“One of the exciting things about that was actually finding our Moana and how exciting that has been,” the actor said. “The global search to find our Moana, which — between you and I, we found her — not gonna tell you yet. [It’s] very exciting.”

Cravalho will not feature in the live-action MOANA but will serve as an executive producer.
