STAR WARS actress Daisy Ridley is sharing her recent health diagnosis — she has Graves’ Disease.

“I thought, ‘Well, I’ve just played a really stressful role; presumably that’s why I feel poorly,’” Ridley told Women’s Health, referring to her role in MAGPIE.

Ridley experienced a racing heart, weight loss and tiredness.

“It was funny, I was like, ‘Oh, I just thought I was annoyed at the world,’ but turns out everything is functioning so quickly, you can’t chill out,” Ridley said.

Ridley found that diet changes have helped her manage the disease.

“I am not super strict about it, but generally cutting down on gluten makes me feel better, I’ve always been health conscious, and now I’m trying to be more well-being conscious,” Ridley said.

“We all read the stats about women being undiagnosed or under-diagnosed and sort of coming to terms with saying, ‘I really, actually don’t feel good’ and not going, ‘I’m fine, I’m fine, I’m fine, I’m fine.’ It’s just normalized to not feel good,” she explained.

The young actress previously shared her diagnosis of endometriosis.

“To any of you who are suffering with anything, go to a doctor; pay for a specialist; get your hormones tested, get allergy testing,” she said in 2016. “Keep on top of how your body is feeling and don’t worry about sounding like a hypochondriac. From your head to the tips of your toes we only have one body, let us all make sure ours our working in tip top condition, and take help if it’s needed.”

Ridley recently starred in YOUNG WOMAN AND THE SEA, which earned the following praise from Movieguide®:

YOUNG WOMAN AND THE SEA is one of the best movies in a long time. It’s extremely well plotted, superbly directed and beautifully acted, with a rich musical score. YOUNG WOMAN AND THE SEA has a strong morally uplifting worldview with strong Christian, biblical references and values celebrating courage, forgiveness, loyalty, and fortitude. It also has references to prayer, church and the Hand of God. MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution for younger children because of intense swimming scenes.

Ridley trained rigorously to portray Trudy Ederle, the first woman to swim across the English Channel.

“She started training for months and months, open water swimming with Siobhan-Marie O’Connor, the English Olympic medalist swimmer. They trained and she learned period swimming — how they swam 100 years ago,” said director Joachim Rønning, “When she went into the water, she was tough. She never complained and was always going for it, and asking ‘Do you want one more?’ and her lips were turning blue.”
