Christians Need to Vote. Former Governor Explains Why.

Former Governor Mike Huckabee is encouraging Christians to vote so they can get the government they want.

Huckabee spoke about his role in GOD’S NOT DEAD: IN GOD WE TRUST, calling it “incredible.”

“I loved every bit of it. It was such a blast to get to do it,” he said in an interview with Movieguide®. “The message is so timely.”

A portion of the Movieguide® review of GOD’S NOT DEAD: IN GOD WE TRUST reads:

GOD’S NOT DEAD: IN GOD WE TRUST has a strong Christian, biblical, moral worldview. It shows how bad the world can get if we totally remove God from society. The movie stresses that Christians should be aware that secularists and atheists are trying to take hold of America’s entertainment, politics, education, and daily life and remove any and all Christian, biblical values. This particular movie in the GOD’S NOT DEAD series also warns that more than 40 million Christians don’t vote. GOD’S NOT DEAD: IN GOD WE TRUST urges viewers to pray for America and vote for Christian, biblical values.

Huckabee explained that the main message of the movie “is that Christians have an obligation to get involved in civic affairs.”

“There are a lot of people who think, ‘Oh, Christians shouldn’t get involved in politics because it’s a dirty business,’” he said. “And my response to that is — look, everyone wants to eat from a clean plate. That means someone has to do the dishes, and the reason politics is as dirty as it is, is because not enough people are willing to do the dishes.”

He said that GOD’S NOT DEAD: IN GOD WE TRUST also “reminds us that 40 million evangelical Christians in this country do not vote in a presidential election, which means we don’t have the government we want.”

“You can’t compartmentalize your faith,” Huckabee continued. “If you live in a world that you would like to be able to influence for Christ, then don’t tell me you’re not going to vote.”

Huckabee discussed the movie’s themes further during an episode of the “Lighthouse Faith” podcast.

“When a person says these people want to impose their values, I want to say: Doesn’t the left want to impose their values? Yes,” he said. “Politics is ultimately about winning an election so that your policies, those things that you hold dear, will become a part of the culture and a part of government.”

Producer Michael Scott echoed Huckabee’s sentiments in an interview with Pure Flix, saying the movie “serves as a bold reminder that complacency can erode our liberties, freedom, and faith when we fail to actively defend and uphold them.”

“If we truly believe in a faithful God who is ‘good all the time,’ we must be willing to speak out and stand firm in our beliefs, even in the face of great risks and opposition,” he concluded.
