Detroit Tigers Star Proclaims ‘Jesus Won’ Amid Incredible Wildcard Win

After a somewhat mundane season, the Detroit Tigers are on a high after they just secured the sixth and final spot in the American League playoffs.
The Tigers beat the Houston Astros in the wild-card game to secure their berth in the playoffs this season.
One of their star players is utility man Zach McKinstry, who made his first-ever MLB post-season appearance this year.
Per Sports Spectrum, “He entered Game 1 as a second baseman but didn’t receive an at-bat. In the closeout Game 2, McKinstry started at third base, threw out Houston’s first batter of the game with an incredible twisting play from behind third, and slapped a double to centerfield in the second inning.”
“OCTOBER! Blessed to be here! God is Good!” he posted on Instagram.
“I can plug [McKinstry] in wherever and when he’s performing at this rate, why wouldn’t I?” Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said of his utility man. “[McKinstry has] been incredible these last few weeks, and I’ve certainly noticed by demonstrating it with playing time. His ability to play multiple positions is one thing, but the fact that he does it well is the most important part.”
On top of McKinstry’s great performance in the postseason, he has partnered with The Valley Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) organization to help those in need by selling “Jesus Won” shirts.
“Money from my shirt sales will be going towards helping @bbqmissionllc feed the homeless and @the_valley_fca,” he wrote on his social media.
BBQ Mission is a “Christian non-profit organization driven to provide meals for those in need.”
In a video shared by the MLBPA, McKinstry said, “Getting to meet [people who are homeless] and pray with them, it’s just a good feeling. You get to talk to people that you probably wouldn’t talk to on a regular basis if you’re just walking down the street.”
“… Just seeing their faces glow and they’re so excited to get a little bit of food, it just makes your heart full,” he added.
