More Detail:
HUDSON AND REX begins with a whale tour boat whose passengers and crew suddenly disappear, and the ship returns empty. Charlie Hudson and his dog Rex arrive on the scene to investigate the disappearance. Hudson explores the boat, and nothing seems unusual at first. One person says that maybe ghosts took them and offers to fly a drone to help search for the passengers. Hudson learns that a pharmaceutical billionaire is on the boat, and 9-1-1 informs them that they received a ransom demand with a kidnapper threatening to kill the passengers if he doesn’t receive 10 million dollars.
The team learns that one of the passengers was traveling with a fake ID. The kidnapper sends a video of him shooting one of the search team members, but later, we learn that the victim was never shot and was the kidnapper. The search drone is shot down, which indicates where the kidnapper took the hostages, so Hudson and Rex swim to the location to remain unseen. The criminal, Gus, wants to shoot the dog but is talked out of it by his partner. Hudson knocks Gus out by punching him in the face and handcuffs his partner, rescuing the hostages. The hostages reunite with their families.
