Property Brothers Drew and Jonathan Scott aren’t clowning around anymore, but the use to! The brothers recently revealed that before they were creating beautiful living spaces, they were creating balloon animals and painting faces.
While they were literally professional clowns, Jonathan’s name was “Dimples” and Drew’s name was “Curly.”
In an interview with PEOPLE, the twins shared what it was like being clowns.
“At 8 years old, we started getting hired out as apprentice clowns, and we did that for years, until we were making like fifty bucks an hour,” Jonathan explained. “It was crazy. We were just sitting there buying candy for all our friends.”
However, after five years, the brothers quit their clown career.

“I didn’t like doing all the makeup and all that, so eventually when I was around 13, I segwayed into doing more magic as opposed to the clowning and it built from there,” Jonathan explained.
In a recent Instagram post, Drew tried to stump his magician brother with a magic trick of his own. While Jonathan appeared slightly stumped, he then performed an even bigger trick by making a rubber band disappear.
People in the comment section found the interaction humorous.
“That was so good, you are magical Drew!” one person said. Another person added, “TV magic show please!”
Despite being twins and doing nearly everything together, Jonathan and Drew say that their parents made sure each child was treated as an individual.
“Mom would take me to something individual, Dad would take me to something individual,” Drew previously said in an interview. “As a kid, you don’t think about it. But as an adult, looking back, I remember how good that felt.”
Recently, the brothers are taking on a new adventure. They kicked-off a spinoff show from their original show titled PROPERTY BROTHERS: UNDER PRESSURE. A synopsis of the show reads, “With the emotional and financial stakes at an all-time high, the brothers will guide clients through the highs and lows of the home buying process, then incorporate stunning, smart and functional design solutions to create dream homes.”
In an exciting announcement, the brothers said, “We have a brand-new show coming to HGTV next year! Get ready for it! It’s called… Property Brothers: Under Pressure… It’s going to be the whole journey. You get to watch the stress of buying to the thrill of renovation. Yeah, it’s real stakes, real emotions, and really, really cool design.”
