Country music legend and sitcom star Reba McEntire revealed why she is “happier now than I’ve ever been.”
“It’s amazing. It’s wonderful being 70 and getting to do what I get to do at the level I want to do it,” McEntire told PEOPLE.
McEntire currently stars in the feel-good comedy sitcom HAPPY’S PLACE. She stars alongside Melissa Peterman, Belissa Escobedo and fiancé Rex Linn. In Season 2, she will reunite with JoAnna Garcia Swisher, who played McEntire’s daughter on REBA, her early 2000s sitcom.
“It’s just like there’s not been a day between the last time I got to work with her,” McEntire revealed. “And having Melissa Peterman on the show and Rex Linn…we are a tight knit family, an acting team, and we have so much fun together. It’s natural. Anytime I get to step on that set, I feel like home. It’s my happy place.”

She also serves as a coach on THE VOICE for her fourth season, pointing to the “many more great contestants” as the reason for her return.
“They find the best people. I am blown away every season,” McEntire said. “Then, of course, the other coaches,” she added, referencing Michael Bublé, Snoop Dogg and Niall Horan.
“What I love about the three that I’m with, we say our prayer before we go in. Snoop instigated that,” she added.
The icing on the cake for McEntire is her newfound love with Linn.
“I’ve never been loved by a man like Rex Linn. Rex is a very tender-hearted man, and I just love him with all my heart. He’s a good guy. Real bashful though,” she declared.
McEntire and Linn got engaged last Christmas Eve at Leiper’s Fork [in Tennessee], the actress told PEOPLE in another interview.
“So we got engaged then, we were going to make the announcement when we got back to L.A. in January, and the fires happened. It wasn’t appropriate,” McEntire said before adding, “the time never presented itself until the Emmys when it just happened.”
McEntire and Linn are in no rush to set a date for the wedding; the couple is busy enjoying their engagement.
McEntire offered some advice for anyone who has lost hope of finding love.
“If you’re in heartbreak right now, just take care of yourself, take care of your heart, and then be open with it,” she shared. “I was not looking for love at all. So it just happened at the right time, right place. God’s timing is everything.”
McEntire certainly has a lot to be happy about!
