If you didn’t get a chance to see THE CHOSEN Season 5 in theaters, don’t fret! You’ll finally be able to watch it from home next month, starting June 15.

Titled THE CHOSEN: LAST SUPPER, the hit biblical series dropped in theaters March 28. By April 11, the season had grossed over $60 million internationally.

“THE CHOSEN: LAST SUPPER (Season 5) follows Jesus’ (Jonathan Roumie) triumph to treachery as his final days unfold in a story that changed the world,” a press release synopsis reads.

It continues, “While religious leaders scramble to silence his growing influence, Jesus shares one last meal with his closest followers. But in the shadows, Judas makes a deal that seals both their fates. In a tale of power, faith, and betrayal that echoes through time — one man’s ultimate sacrifice becomes humanity’s greatest story.”

An emotional new trailer for the series shows intense moments in the week leading up to the crucifixion.

Actor Jonathan Roumie shared the news of the release on Instagram. “THE CHOSEN: LAST SUPPER is streaming on @primevideo June 15,” he wrote

Fans in the comment section shared their excitement. “So excited to see this. Having a visual for all the Bible readings I have listened to is amazing. It makes me feel so much more connected,” one user said. Another person added, “Excited to binge Season 5!! ❤️.”

Bingeing the season, however, won’t be entirely possible, as creator Dallas Jenkins said the series will not be all released at once.

“We’re going to release it at the same cadence as we did in theaters,” he explained. “So, the first week that it comes out, the first two episodes will come at once. The second week it comes out, the middle three episodes will come out all at the same time. And then the third week it comes out, the final three episodes will all come out.” The entire season will be available after three weeks.

This streaming release differs from past seasons because the series will not be released to THE CHOSEN App until 90 days after it hits Prime.

Jenkins explained, “We had a great deal with Prime Video. Typically, when it comes to a streaming platform like that, it would be exclusive for a really long time before it goes anywhere else.”

Movieguide®’s review of the new season reads, “THE CHOSEN: LAST SUPPER – PART ONE follows the final days of Jesus as he walks through Holy Week. Jesus experiences Palm Sunday and the complete adoration of the crowd. Even then, however, he doesn’t celebrate with them as He knows the brutality of what’s coming next. Jesus continues to share his message and explains in parables why His death is necessary.”

Movieguide® rated the series a +4 for content, noting that the series “strongly stresses Jesus Christ’s divinity and the need for his vicarious death, while also highlighting his message of salvation” and that “The scenes where Jesus cleanses the Temple are intense but dramatically powerful.”
