Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd, DANCING WITH THE STARS dancers and husband-wife duo, presented at this year’s Movieguide® Faith & Values Awards Gala.
They presented for The Faith and Freedom Award® for Movies category. Nominations under the category are BAU: AN ARTIST AT WAR, THE FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS, MISSION IMPOSSIBLE – THE FINAL RECKONING, PADDINGTON IN PERU and SARAH’S OIL.
On the red carpet, Chmerkovskiy shared that Movieguide® embodies his family’s values.
“All we’re trying to do right now are — literally the foundation of our day — is setting good values in the three beautiful boys that we have at home, and so we are fully focused on all the things that are family values and stuff like that,” he said. “So, when we got the invitation to do it, it’s like literally the verbiage is exactly what our life is all about at the moment.”
Murgatroyd added, “Because it is so much about family with Movieguide®, with everything that’s going on in the world right now, the world is crazy. You know, it can be a very dark place, and it’s so nice to be able to have these types of movies being brought to families.”

Chmerkovskiy believes that people have always craved wholesome storytelling. They are very supportive of former DWTS contestant, Candace Cameron Bure, and her efforts to tell faith-based stories.
“Candace has always spoken to the things that resonate with us, regardless of maybe religious barriers and things of that sort,” Chmerkovskiy said. “You know, I love being here. I love the people that are here.”
“And this content is exactly what we’re trying to promote within our own house as well,” he added.
The couple have three children: Shai, 8, Rio, 2, and Milan, 1.
“I’m looking forward to continuing being a real loving, real family that’s focused on each other and building that small little community that we started from within,” Chmerkovskiy said when Milan was born.
“Family means everything to my brother Val and I,” he added in another conversation. “We’re taking the whole mama’s boy and papa’s boy to a whole new level, but I think it really is important.”
Murgatroyd said being a mom is her “greatest joy.”
The family had their first photoshoot of the five of them this month. The youngest boys weren’t cooperative, but that didn’t bother their parents.
“Perfectly imperfect…..We are so in love with these pictures and the countless other crazy ones we have. We knew it would be chaos and it indeed was! The second photo is the ONLY photo we got in the last 3 mins before we called it a day haha,” Murgatroyd wrote.
