A movie based on popular game “Ticket to Ride” is officially in the works, and more projects could be in the works!

“After 20+ years of routes, tunnels, and epic cross-country connections, ‘Ticket to Ride’ is heading somewhere new — with Netflix. Yes, really,” Days of Wonder, the game’s publisher, posted on Instagram. “Our favorite railway adventure is coming to the screen, and Alan R. Moon is along for the ride as Executive Producer. From your table…to your TV. All aboard!”

Moon, who is also the author of the game, added, “Just when I thought life couldn’t get more exciting, ‘Ticket to Ride’ is teaming up with Netflix. I can’t wait to help bring these exciting projects to the millions of fans of the game.”

Deadline reported that Netflix’s deal for the board game “spans both scripted and unscripted arenas,” meaning the streamer can also develop TV projects and other content based on the game.

“Ticket to Ride” is a strategy-based board game where players collect cards to claim railway routes and compete to earn the most points by connecting cities and completing destination tickets.

This is just the latest board game-based project Netflix has put into production. In 2025, the streamer announced they were developing several projects based on “The Settlers of Catan,” another mega-popular board game.

“Millions of people [have been] enjoying Catan since it was created, and for many it remains a gateway to modern board gaming. I’m thrilled to see the game expanding to a larger audience who will discover the richness of its universe. I find it exciting for the future of the brand,” said Thomas Koegler, CEO of Asmodee, a leader in the tabletop gaming world. “It’s also a testament that board gaming is truly part of pop culture and a popular form of entertainment in everyone’s homes, and I’m delighted to continue Asmodee’s relationship with Netflix.”

Jinny Howe, head of scripted series, US and Canada at Netflix, added, “Anyone who has played Catan knows [that] the intense strategy and negotiation at the core of the game has endless opportunities for some serious drama.”

“We knew landing this deal would be as game-changing as a well-placed settlement, so we decided to pool our resources across series, features, animation, and games and show Asmodee the full power of Netflix when we work together,” she continued. “Hardcore ‘Settlers’ are going to lose their minds, and new fans will finally learn just how important a sheep trade can be.”

Fans of these games are excited to see how Netflix brings these fictional worlds to the screen!
