Singer and songwriter Mark Miller is reflecting on the way his faith has impacted his lengthy career in the music industry.
“As I reflect on the forty-year career, I just know that I’ve been amazingly blessed that God has given me this timeframe, and I’ve always wanted to be a good steward of the blessings, the fans, the platform,” he said during an episode of the “Jesus Calling” podcast.
Miller has been the lead singer of band Sawyer Brown for over 40 years and has also served as Christian rock band Casting Crown’s producer for the last 20 years.
“I’ve always looked at what I do for a living as music,” he explained. “My job is to be the producer/writer for Sawyer Brown, and the lead singer for Sawyer Brown — the frontman. And that’s what I do for a living. But who I am is who I am in Christ.”
Milled continued, “I’m a Christian man, and that’s who I am. It’s not what I do, that’s who I am to the core. Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. And I live my life every day — when I get up and when I go to bed — I sign His name at the start of the day, and I sign His name at the end of the day.”
“To my life, my family, Sawyer Brown, and Casting Crowns — everything that I do with every fiber in my body, I want that to be all about Jesus,” he concluded.

In another episode of “Jesus Calling,” Miller spoke about his faith history, saying, “I grew up in church. The earliest memories I have of anything musical, it was all based and centered around the church.”
“I’ve been pretty blessed to wear a lot of hats [in the music industry], and the only qualification that I’ve ever had is that God opened that door,” he added.
In a recent interview with Woman’s World, Miller said Sawyer Brown’s plans for 2025 include tour dates and recording new music.
“This is such a blessing to get to do this and I’m just humbled every night to see all these people come out,” he said. “When we sound check every day, I walk every area of the arena or wherever we are playing personally so I can make sure that every section sounds good because I want those folks to have a great show, and hear well. And I literally work out every day so I can go out and do the kind of show that they are expecting to see.”
Mark Miller has played a lot of roles in the music industry, but for the artist and producer, his most important job is being a follower of Christ.
