Could NCIS: NEW ORLEANS’ Dwayne Pride show up in Season 2 of NCIS: ORIGINS? Fans think so.

“We always have our eye on canon,” co-showrunner Gina Lucita Monreal told TVLine. “We have a big huge timeline in the writers room and we’re really strict about sticking to it. The canon matters to us, and we never want to ignore it. So, all the things that we’re seeing in canon, we will address one way or another.”

Pride is introduced in NCIS’ eleventh season in a backdoor pilot for spin-off NCIS: NEW ORLEANS. In the episode, it’s explained that Pride and Gibbs have a long history together. The pair met in the 1980s when Gibbs was still in the Marine Corps, and they both later joined NCIS.

Fans point to this past relationship as a pretty good indicator that a younger Pride will show up in NCIS: ORIGINS eventually.

Pride isn’t the only character that might feature in NCIS: ORIGINS. Mariel Molino, who plays Lala on the show, told TVLine she would love to see “a young DiNozzo [and] young Ziva.”

Co-star Austin Stowell, who plays Gibbs, agreed, adding, “We need a new funny guy. We got to have some smiles down in the office.”

The pair also teased what they would like to see in Season 2 — Molino “would love to see Lala’s backstory…Who was she before she became a Marine, before she became an agent?” while Stowell said he wants to see “Franks’ past explored.”

CBS confirmed NCIS: ORIGINS’ Season 2 renewal earlier this year.

“We are so happy that NCIS: ORIGINS has been so well received by both longtime NCIS fans and franchise newcomers,” Monreal and co-showrunner David J. North told Parade shortly after the renewal was announced.

They continued, “We’re thrilled to be returning for a second season and can’t wait to tell more incredible stories of Gibbs, Franks, Lala, and the rest of the team with the superbly talented actors who play them.”

Stowell also celebrated the Season 2 news, telling Entertainment Tonight, “To know that we’re coming back to do it again before we’re even done with the first one, I know what a luxury that is. I’m feeling very blessed right now…Best job of my life.”

Whether or not some younger versions of beloved NCIS characters appear in new ORIGINS episodes or not, fans of the show can’t wait to see what happens next!
