Dolly Parton announced she would be doing a six show mini-residence in Las Vegas this December, coinciding with the National Finals Rodeo.

“Tickets and VIP packages for Dolly: Live in Las Vegas are on sale now! ✨ Can’t wait to see you December 4-13 at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace!” Parton announced on Instagram.

“To say I’m excited would be an understatement. I haven’t worked in Vegas in years and I’ve always loved singing there,” Parton added in a statement, per Variety. “I’m looking forward to the shows in The Colosseum at Caesars and I hope you are as well. See you there.”

Though Parton has continued to actively release music and perform, her Vegas residency will serve as her first extended set of performances since she finished her Pure and Simple tour in 2016. Her lack of touring, however, is not surprising given that she turns 80 next January.

“I do not think I will ever tour again,” Parton said in 2022. “I’ll do special shows here and there, now and then. Maybe do a long weekend of shows, or just a few shows at a festival. But I have no intention of going on a full-blown tour anymore.”

“I’ve done that my whole life, and it takes so much time and energy,” she continued. “I like to stay a little closer to home with my husband. We’re getting older now, and I don’t want to be gone for four or five weeks at a time. Something could happen. I would not feel right about that, if I were gone and somebody needed me. Or I would feel bad if I had to leave a tour if somebody got sick at home and needed me and then I had to walk out on the fans.”

Nonetheless, the beloved country star plans to continue working for as long as she can.

“Work is everything to me,” Parton told USA Today. “That’s all I know. It’s what I do. It’s how all these things have come to pass… I felt like [songwriting] was my gift, but I love to sing too, and I love to perform. So it’s all just one thing to me.”

Her work continues to be an inspiration for all in the industry both because of her success and her commitment to her strong Christian faith.

“Every day I pray for God to lead me and to take out all the wrong things, wrong people in my life, bring all the right things, right people in, and to let me glorify Him and uplift mankind,” Parton said. “Let me be a light, and a vessel to be used…I just really want to do what I can in this world to make things better, if I can.”

As her career spans over six decades, it is amazing how Parton continues to give back to her community and show up for her fans both as a positive role model and an entertaining performer.
