The University of Connecticut women’s basketball team just scored its first-ever docuseries. It will stream on Apple TV+.

Apple announced last week a “three-part docuseries featuring the legendary University of Connecticut (UConn) women’s basketball team — the 2025 NCAA National Champions and one of the most iconic women’s teams in sports history.”

It spans “40 years of the program’s historic dynasty under Hall of Fame head coach Geno Auriemma.”

A post from UConn said that the “documentary reveals the epic narrative of UConn’s path to becoming the greatest dynasty in women’s sports history, with each episode featuring a blend of unique archival footage, incisive interviews and exclusive access with UConn’s 2024-25 championship squad.”

UConn women’s basketball fans commented on the post with excitement, thrilled to get a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to win a National Championship.

“Greatest dynasty in sports HISTORY, men or women,” one person wrote.

Another said, “I just watched this championship game for the 100th time. Glad I have a docuseries to watch soon!”

“Okay, so since I don’t have Apple TV, imma need it on another platform, pls. I need this,” someone else commented.

Deadline reported that the UConn women’s basketball team only had one winning season before the 1985 season. Auriemma took on the role of head coach that year, and the team has been winning ever since. He’s coached iconic players including Rebecca Lobo, Swin Cash, Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi, Maya Moore, Tina Charles, Breanna Stewart and the 2025 No. 1 WNBA Draft pick Paige Bueckers.

The documentary will feature players like Bueckers, Azzi Fudd, Kaitlyn Chen, KK Arnold and more.

Matthew Hamachek (TIGER) and Erica Sashin (HARRY & MEGHAN) will direct.

“We’re thrilled to be working with Apple TV+ and Skydance Sports on this project that gives a behind-the-scenes look at our National Championship run that has never been seen before,” Auriemma said, per Deadline. “This series offers fans an exclusive view into 40 seasons of UConn women’s basketball, and I’m really excited for audiences to be able to see all the hard work that has built this program.”

Skydance Sports will produce the docuseries, while Learfield Studios and Brillstein Creative Partners will executive produce. It joins Apple TV+’s growing slate of sports documentaries, which currently includes THE DYNASTY, a doc about the New England Patriots, along with docs on Stephen Curry, Lionel Messi and behind-the-scenes looks at both the 2024 World Series and Major League Soccer season, per Sports Illustrated.

There is no official release date or title for the docuseries yet, so stay tuned for information.
