While at FuelFest this past weekend, Vin Diesel announced that the final installment in the FAST & FURIOUS franchise will hit theaters in 2027.
“The studio said to me, ‘Vin, can we please have the finale of FAST & FURIOUS [in] April 2027,'” Diesel said to the roaring crowd. “I said, ‘Under three conditions.'”
“First, is to bring the franchise back to LA! The second thing was to return to the car culture, to the street racing,” he continued. “The third thing was reuniting Dom and Brian O’Conner.”

Brian O’Conner was previously “portrayed by the late Paul Walker, who starred in six franchise installments before he was killed in a car crash in November 2013 at 40,” Entertainment Weekly reported.
Diesel didn’t share how they will bring Walker’s character back. However other franchises have used CGI to resurrect characters after their actors died.
Tyrese Gibson, who portrays Roman in the FAST films, knows that Diesel’s decision to bring O’Conner back is personal.
“Those of us who’ve had the honor of knowing you personally and intimately…We all know the truth: you’ve never been the same since you lost your brother, Paul Walker. None of us have. We saw it in your eyes when FURIOUS 7 wrapped. We feel it in the way you carry Paul’s legacy — not as a burden, but a sacred calling. You turned grief into purpose,” Gibson began a recent Instagram post.
“From day one, FAST & FURIOUS wasn’t just about cars — it was about family. And when Paul passed, your role shifted. You became the steward of his legacy,” he continued. “Last night at FuelFest, you took the mic and told the world: FAST & FURIOUS is coming home. Back to Los Angeles. Back to the streets where Dom and Brian first found their rhythm. That moment wasn’t marketing — it was spiritual.”
“You’ve done more than lead this franchise. You’ve sacrificed for it. You’ve carried the pressure in silence and the spotlight with grace. You’ve made inclusion real. You read the comments. You listen to the fans. You constantly look for ways to elevate,” Gibson added.

FAST X: PART 2 follows up FAST X, which Movieguide® praised for a “Strong Christian, moral worldview,” while advising caution for foul language:
FAST X contains some impressive action sequences. The chase sequence involving the bomb headed to Vatican City is very exciting. FAST X increases the personal stakes in the franchise by having the villain target Dom’s son. Cleverly, the filmmakers link Dom’s protection of his son with overt references to faith and Jesus. The movie promotes family, honor and sacrifice. FAST X has significantly less foul language than recent FAST & FURIOUS movies, but it’s still slightly excessive. So, MOVIEGUIDE® advises extreme caution.
Director Louis Leterrier previously revealed that FAST X: PART 2 is “going to be a sad one.”
“In my mind, they’re modern saints. At the end, Dante says, ‘There’s two ways a person becomes a saint: Either they pull off a miracle, or they sacrifice themselves for the greater good.’ So yes, you’re going to cry. There are some tears in your future, let me tell you,” he explained.
Fans will have to wait until 2027 to see how the decades-long franchise concludes.
